DMX could do both. DMX will be on the street battling dudes straight off the dome... And eat them alive. He's done it countless times... Pac was nice but he was not a battle rapper like that... DMX released two albums in the same year. They both debuted number one. Both went platinum his first five albums debuted number one and all went platinum. No other artists has ever done that... Michael Jackson... Prince... Luther vandross Barry White The Supremes you name them... I know that that's a different genre of music, but I'm making a point that no other artist has done that... And let's be honest if Pac and DMX were both alive and they had to battle off the top of the dome... Tupac would not survive that... To be honest, I don't think Tupac could survive a battle with Jadakiss... Now he could probably hang out a little bit if he could go to the studio and write something and then put it out, but just on the spot like that... X would kill him... DMX would do to Tupac in a live battle off the top of the dome what Jadakiss did to dipset....

@@Trumeko Pac was not a battle rapper, and I make no claims to the contrary; Pac is simply the greatest artist-songwriter in Hip-Hop history and is in a lane of his own in that regard. No other rapper has covered the full breadth of the human condition like Pac did; every emotion was covered, and there's a Pac song for virtually every occasion. There are murals of the man in every corner of the world because his music connected on a deep human level. I appreciate the technical rappers and all that they can do, but I don't feel anything for them; now, part of this could be that the grave [Pac's death] adds gravitas, but that still doesn't explain why he looms so large over other deceased rappers.

$hort Dawg paved the way for Bay Area rappers even E-40 will tell you that, but musically you have to give it up to E-40 because his catalog of music is way bigger, more consistent, and highly refined. E-40 adjusted perfectly with the times whereas Too $hort kind of lost his touch and peaked, musically speaking, by the early 2010s after the "Blow The Whistle" Hyphy Era. $hort is still one of the greatest to ever do it tho, but unless he's collaborating with E-40 and/or Mount Westmore, his solo music just isn't landing like it used to.

Secondly Too $hort's longevity. He was around during the Run-DMC era, The Juice Crew era, the Ice-T/ NWA era, The East Coast/West Coast war. He retired and came back just as hard. When the South blew up everybody wanted Too $hort on one of their records. Biggie and Jay-Z had $hort on their records because he was Too $hort.
