Yup, I was in a group as a kid we sent BadBoy our demo using a James Brown sample...He brought the group "Total" out one or two months later with the same beat (Can't You See). He didn't even change anything. 🤣 We sat with a local producer (in his basement) for hours looping that beat. I remember when the Total song dropped and the producer said we couldn't do anything because it was a sample from James Brown. We were kids, and it was pretty disheartening. But seeing how things have unfolded over the years and now. THANK GOD!!!

I moved on to a better job and 4 years after they laid me off.....that company shut down and laid everyone off. And I heard stories on how the company screwed the manager over. Botton line. Yes, karma is a cold bitch. That happened to my last boss. She had a habit of firing people who didn't kiss her ass. Well, after several people in the department that I worked in, I became the next one on the chopping block. Well, about 3 months later I was in a recovery shelter and one of the people that she had fired came through that day and drop the good news on me about her. Apparently her boss or bosses called her into the office on her vacation ( this was during Thanksgiving). They then told her that she was fired. What a way to go. After all that she did to several employees, she got hers. The union had been building a case against her and apparently they got the smoking gun to get her fired. She didn't even see it coming.To get fired on her vacation and on Thanksgiving. That served her right. And Diddy is gonna get his. Very. Soon. He. Should. Watch. His. Back. And. He. Won't. Even. See. It. Coming!

Gene is speaking facts about industry types stealing shit & acting like its theirs, as there are lot of established/well-known producers, music industry execs, etc. who have stolen beats, lyrics, concepts, & even whole songs from up-and-coming artists who've submitted their music via various means (Soundclick, Soundcloud, GMail, and of course in-person demos are a few examples that immediately come to mind)...and the thieving execs & producers as a result got exposed and/or even sued for doing so. Puffy, Kanye West & Ludacris, Timbaland, Will.I.Am, and Polow Da Don are but a few who've been exposed (and in several cases sued) for the above within the past 20 years or so.

@@BGambino1215 Man stop. That B1 guy didn’t make that song. He literally took it from that group Mtume who made that song Juicy Fruit in the 1980s. All he did was rap over their beat to their song. That’s it
@pizzeo9 ай бұрын
@@whatwhat9004 yeah and for the record Biggie wasn't the first person to rap over Juicy Fruit. plenty of people had rapped over it. But Puffy got the idea to do it from Pete Rock and that's my point. Pete Rock tells the whole story here... kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJ-4mIGGarughLc
Pete Rock did the beat offered it to Nas first then Biggie jumped Puffy took it and stripped off Pete Rock drums and released it then made Pete’s version the remix. But Teddy Riley sampled juicy in like 88/89 for wrecks and effects

To be honest a lot of labels do that or were doing that. Def jam, deathrow, bad boy, cash money, sick wid it. There’s stories of JD and dre taking samples and redoing them. 🤷♂️

00:10 This has been a problem for generations. If you left home at 12, or managed make yourself a mute, it would still touch you. If you moved to another coast you'd still feel it. Maybe not directly, but its a part of your life. If you got beat up in school, molested (more than likely by family, or others, robbed, dated abusive people, had friends who were killed, purchased weed or anything else, know people who sold sex; male or female. Violent and sexual behavior is used to regulate. We live with these forces. I don't understand how we pretend this is foreign. People categorized as "Black," poor people are a commodity.

@westyraviz9 ай бұрын
The problem I have with Gene Deal is that he comes off as someone who though he’s had these opinions about Puffy from the jump, but had he been paid, he’d have remained a loyal soldier. His disgruntledness appears to simply boil down to money. Had he been paid, he’d have overlooked all these Puffy’s character flaws and continued to serve Puffy.

Everything Gene Deal is saying makes sense. Funny thing is a lot of people in business do take ideas from others. No idea under the sun is original they say.
