Revolution Enduro Keystone 2022 Day 1

Ended up 24th of 44 in Am 30-39 after day 1. Stage 2 was my fastest and stage 3 was insanely long and challenging. Struggled to stay on the bike with immense brake pump on Even Flow. Probably was the hardest part of the race for me!

Thanks! My arms were so flamed from grabbing a lot of brakes all through Even Flow. What a tough trail to end a long stage on a long day!

Nice one. I plan on racing there this year. A little nervous because I’ve had all my worst accidents at Keystone.

Just saw this Jeremy, sorry! Thanks! Yea, its a gnarly place to race for sure and I was glad to come out of it mostly unscathed. What category are you racing this year? I'll be in AM 30-39 and hoping to improve from 21st last year. I hadn't ridden any of those double blacks before I signed up so I think I can do a lot better this year as I know them a lot better know.

@@jamman720 I'll be in the Masters 40-49. I turned 40 last year and I've always wanted to do an enduro. I'm debating on doing a practice day in hopes taht I don't get too in my own head. I've ridden there before a few times. How much climbing was there?

@jeremycrystalhess5520 Oh, thats awesome to hear! I'll say that Keystone is a gnarly first enduro but don't let that dissuade you. It felt like a multi-stage DH race to me because the stages are incredibly long and difficult but the pedal transfers are pretty minimal. I think there was about 1500-2000 feet of pedal transfer day one last year and maybe half that the 2nd day. Pretty different than the N Routt enduro I am racing tomorrow with almost 5k vert in the first day! I would say pre-riding at least one day is critical for this race. I didn't realize how hard it was going to be until the day before the race while pre-riding last year but am feeling better about it this year after riding there a couple times this season. Last year, they offered a discount for people pre-riding the course on the Friday before the race and I think it was $45 instead of $70. Make sure to ride all the double blacks as you come in to most them very tired at the end of the stages. None of my friends are in the Keystone race this year so I'd be be interested in racing with you if you are interested? They don't really care about mixing the classes a bit and masters starts right behind my class.

@@jamman720 I'll be racing with my two neighbors (their first enduro too). If you see a guy with a raw aluminum Propain w/ Ohlins suspension, chances are that is me.
