This needs far more views and likes than it has. I like the occasional hot towel shave...it's something I've grown to enjoy every so often after letting my full beard grow for at least a year or so. Thanks to that I often find myself looking at videos about the history of shaving and razors through history from time to time and seeing an actual historical style shave is a neat thing. I'm more of an old west guy myself but seeing stuff from the revolutionary war is cool too.

Fascinating. I have used a safety razor for decades. I'm intrigued by the straight razor because of its historical use, but I'm not sure I would actually use one. Think I'll just keep trimming with the razor :) Thanks for the interesting video!

And also noting, American army, even early on they follow this with shaving required. No more then three days growth.

Thanks for an interesting video. Facial hair was not acceptable in civilian life or military life during this time. British soldiers were expected to shave at least every three days.

Will, I commend you for this! It doesn’t look like a fun time! Great job! I wonder how difficult this is to do yourself? I’d really like to use a historical straight razor but I’ve been hesitant in that I’d cut myself.

It was a first! Moving forward, I think it would be a lot easier. Also, I do use a straight razor now occasionally. Cuts are part of it as you get going. Working slowly and taking your time definitely helps.
