Asking for Shaman friend. Is it possible to have Elemental Blast and Lightning Bolt as a macro? Basically cast Lightining Bolt instead of Ele Blast if it is on cooldown (no charges)?

Another useful macro that has been around since Vanilla is "/use 13" and "/use 14", which will use your top and bottom trinkets respectively. Macro them with [mod] if you want to use one normally and another on a modifier, or better yet macro the trinket to an ability with the same cooldown, so you always pop your trinkets when you need them (and you can easily track their CD). They don't activate the GCD, so one button press can trigger the ability and both trinkets.

This is huge. Also saves INFINITE space because trinkets are always like “Glorious Medallion of the Dominating Tyrannical Death Lord Xavius’ Brother Johnathan Medallion”. So if you want to macro a buff trinket with your racial for example, you really save characters in the macro!

For hunters specifically: I feel it’s worth having a macro to feign death for you and your pet together, as well as having those two on bars separately. That, plus having /petattack and /petfollow on their own buttons will give you far better control over what your pet is doing.

You shouldn't put the cancelauras in the same spell you're using unless you never mash buttons, which most do. Put it on something like mount, or a common DPS ability. For Mage, cancelaura Ice Block on Blink, Counterspell, and Frostbolt for example would be ideal.

@@krippaxxuseredarlordofthes9940 I'm not certain it's still this way in the game (since I last heard of it a few years ago), but IIRC the game queues whatever ability you press up to 500ms before the ability can be used (so when the current cast finishes or the GCD finishes). That means as soon as the server can process it, your ability gets used. If you press something different before those 500ms are up (and that request gets to the server before it executes the ability), the ability gets replaced on the queue and is executed next. Basically, there's no need to spam buttons anyway, just press them around half a second before they're available, and the server will process your attack as if you pressed it at the perfect time.

@@Silent002 Correct, now they have added empowered abilities, with the Dracthyr for example, you can set it up to press once - activates ability charging - press again to stop the empowering and cast now, OR you can have press and HOLD the spell button the charge release to cast. For basic abilities however, what you said still holds true for the basic default settings. You can however change things in the menu and effect how that works.

When I was actually raiding at a high level I used to have all my skills in macros. I used a lot of target of target so if I was healing I could easily push damage while not changing my target or if I was dpsing the boss I could heal the tank just by hitting a heal button. Super effective and still had alt to self heal. And when you're solo you're the target of your target

credit to @Fleshfeast : /use [flyable]sapphire panther /use [noflyable]sapphire panther /use [dragonriding]highland drake /dismount [dragonriding] shows an error in the macrotoolkit addon, but it still works. If you're not in the dragon isles this macro gives an error "you are in the wrong zone" but the macro still activates your [flyable] or [noflyable] mount as appropriate.

All in one Random favourite mount, chooses best available mount type for the area, Dragon riding, Flyer, ground or even water mounts. You can also add in the use of toys into a macro with just "/use toynamehere". Which isn't "useful" persay, but if a toy doesn't activate the global cooldown you can add it into another macro for fun and flavor.

I hate the fact that Blizzard still hasn't fixed the issue with mouse over spells bound to your mouse keys. They don't work when mousing over party/raid frames. You have to go into mouse settings and rebind the mouse keys into something found on the keyboard for them to work on party and raid frames and this has been an issue for over a decade now.

If you have it working without workarounds, what mouse, software, addons and macroes are you using? Would be great to have it working on my setup as well.

I use typical macros like this /cast [@mouseover, exists, help, nodead][] spell name works like a charm always never get these issues people talk about. can use my keyboard for these macrod spells and its always responsive. on the mouse binds as well. i just use raid style party frames i dont use addons cause i dont enjoy how the healer addons look

@@joeym3147 I use same macros with raid frames and no addons. Only difference is the mouse. I've used mice from Razer, Corsair and Logitech, multiple different variants. They all have the same issue when binding spells to the thumb buttons on the mice. Need to manually set them from the mouse software to act as a key from the keyboard for them to work.

They need to add a conditional for dragon riding, so one unmodified button can summon the highest speed mount available in that particular zone.

I just use the "Summon Random Favorite Mount" while in the dragon isles and it automatically chooses the relevant dragons if they're set as favorite.

Just a little space saving tip, there is no reason to do /cast you can /use for spells and abilities as well.. just like you should never /logout when u can just /camp

I used to have cancelaura slowfall in there too, but it got too long once I added dragonriding. This mounts my preferred mount without me having to think about where I am, and pressing it while mounted dismounts me. Pressing it during many types of slowfall cancels them, and it also removes me from a vehicle. EDIT: Upon logging in today I got an error "unknown macro option: dragonriding". The macro still seems to work, so I'm not sure.

HEY SMART LADS! is there anyway to use Random mount in place of a certain mount in the mount macro? I use random favorite mount for most my toons all the dungeon/raid/world boss mounts i like, and i'd like to use an alt key to summon my dragonflying mount on that button atm i just have black proto as the normal key it can ground and fly, but it'd be neat to have random back!

Yes there is. Use a second line and add "/run if SecureCmdOptionParse"[nomod]"then C_MountJournal.SummonByID(0)end". The only downside i have found so far is, that you only see a tooltip once you use a modifier. Hope it helped :)

Considering the built in stance bar feels a bit random in its chosen order, this seems a nice way to force a given Form to always land on the same key. But you could also macro "change to boomkin & hit moonfire & sunfire" or whatever instant kaboom had you wanting to change out. Likewise bear & an armor pot or so on.

Good video to anybody who uses them, I really can't wrap my head around macros, the only time i used them was in FFXIV (And just one, to target an ally, cast a spell and immediately go back to my focus target) but I don't feel they are particularly game changing in WoW, maybe I'm missing out, I don't know.

if you pvp you only need focus macros for inturrupt and ccs. if you are focusing the top healer in BGS and just int everything ang stun and harass the whole game its a game changer LOL. mandatory for arena imo. gotta always have an eye on the other person and be able to quickly stun and set up kill windows without having to switch targets. for PVE i feel like you dont need any. I find myself using more and more of them lately though

For PVE, macros are definitely more useful for some classes than others. I main a frost DK, and they have a lot buffs they need to keep up on themselves all split into different abilities, and using Macros to trigger multiple things at once significantly reduces the number of buttons I have to press. Is it necessary? Not technically, but it makes the experience much smoother. I've played with a few other classes, and none of them have benefited from macros to the same degree.

the @playertarget modifier doesnt work, the internet says it doesnt work because of botting concernes. the @player works great though. im trying to use it for spear of bastion, where putting it on myself kinda makes sense, but if i could put it on my target that would be ideal. Ravager too but ravager moves to enemies so thats less relevent @player works just fine

1:58 WRONG WRONG WRONG. @Cursor works too my man, Makes things much more fluid when you dont have to click the ground to drop your wind rush totem or again, death and decay. The down side is you dont get a "Area of effect" spell indicator, so you have to be good at it and know well where its going to land. You can sometimes even mess up with weird camera angles and put things on the wall and roof for example in some areas.

Something like /use [dragonriding] Dragon; [flyable] Not Dragon; Horse; Sort of like we had to check for Dalaran in WotLK since it was the only non-flyable zone in Northrend. @@Fleshfeast Thanks, but [dragonriding] doesn't seem to be a valid condition. It's behaving as true in all situations. When you separate each on their own line, they all try to fire at the same time. The dragonriding line fails but the ground mount succeeds. Putting each condition on the same line and separating them by semicolons will check each one in order.

Sadly not, or at least I didn't see it in the DF changes to macros. The only way you can get something like that working is if you script it via creating an addon. If you're still interested, try looking up the API Documentation for SecureActionButtonTemplate, which will let you build a virtual button you can then "click" via a macro you write.

Title: plain and simple: i NEVER have used, used or ever WILL use ANY Macro during MMORPG fights ever. periood. if i can't preform top with shortcuts only i am either: a.) not trained enough b.) plain bad for that particular game c.) The game is shit. c. is the reason why i had stopped WoW tanking after 8 Years. they have changed the game so much it wasn't worth my time anymore and i doubt VERY hard that Dragon flight will be any better. Until you can finally again tailor the talents and gear for your needs on your own this game will still be shit regardless of what "new hot shit" they try to sell.
