@@krisswatt Honestly, I couldn’t agree more. Quests like that remind me of how much more mystery and darkness WoW used to have back in the day. I really wish Blizzard would bring more of that back; it’s the kind of stuff that stays with you. 😊

I seriously wonder how much of Azeroth's literal sea-life was actually directly influenced by N'zoth. Like there he is underwater, and like "well since I'm stuck here, might as well influence some octopi to evolve, they look vaguely like me, that'll be fun". Like how much of literal fish are actually N'zoth's designs? He made naga, which are sea-elves. He got the High Elves, and left on creative mode was like "It's fish time" and made them all mermaids or like...salamanders for the males cos sure. And made Azshara into an octopus for good measure. Like N'zoth has an AESTHETIC.

“You ask why we do not leave, why we do not take root elsewhere among the stars. But the truth is this: the void is not a thing that travels. It is not a force that chooses. It is a state of being, a counterbalance to existence itself. We Old Gods did not come to Azeroth as invaders, nor did we choose to make this world our own. We were cast here, like seeds in the dark, to spread the influence of the void-to anchor it in creation. This is not a choice. It is our nature.” The visions grow darker, showing a time long past, when the Black Empire covered Azeroth, a world seething with chaos and primordial life. “The Titans call us aberrations, but we are not so different from them. They seek order; we bring change. They impose control; we sow freedom. Your curse of flesh, as you call it, was not an act of cruelty, but a gift-a gift to liberate you from their cold, unyielding design. The Titans sought to make you perfect, eternal, unchanging. But in perfection, there is no growth. No freedom. No life.” The images shift again, this time showing mortals-Earthen, Vrykul, and others-breaking free of their stone and steel forms, becoming beings of flesh and thought. “And yet, I will not deny the cost. We are not benevolent. The void consumes because it must. Chaos breeds conflict, and conflict breeds suffering. This, too, is our nature. But it is through this suffering that you have found your strength, your resolve. Do you not see? Without us, you would still be slaves to the Titans’ will, bound by their grand designs. Your freedom, your ability to choose your path, to question your fate-these things exist because of us.” -- Yogg Saron.

The Old Gods and their actions have led us to the revelation of the Titans' truth and brought us closer to freeing Azeroth from her prison. Without darkness, there can be no light. Perhaps those we have long seen as our enemies have, in fact, been our liberators. (Not sponsored by the Old Gods). *Frantically shoves void crystals and gold into a large sack, pausing only to mutter*, “This isn’t what it looks like…"

I want to leave this prediction here: One day, we’ll make peace with the Old Gods, paving the way for new races, new classes, and perhaps even existing classes gaining the ability to wield the void or Old God energy. The Titans will be defeated or subdued, and Azeroth will awaken as a fusion of both light and void. Equilibrium.

I think 11.2 is going to be the Rootlands, and maybe we find out that the roots are HOLDING Beledar in the roof of Hallowfall. End of the raid / start of midnight the roots are severed, causing Beledar to sink to the bottom, revealing K'tanth the forgotten old god. As of right now, we only know that Midnight will have Quel'Thalas, which is just one zone of the usual 4. it would be sick for the Midnight trailer to show Beledar sinking, then flash to the mural and illuminate the massive creature and forces of the void.

@Nullermanden @lastelite3967 You’re both partly right and partly... tangled in Old God whispers! N’Zoth’s prison was above ground on ancient Kalimdor before the Sundering, and the Titans buried him there during their war with the Old Gods. But when the Sundering shattered the land, his prison sank beneath the waves. So his dramatic 'bound beneath the waves' line? Not how it started, but it’s definitely how it ended. Leave it to N’Zoth to turn a natural disaster into his personal lore flex.

@Nickuh882 ай бұрын
the void is the best as an overarching antagonist. it isn't just manipulating our negative emotions--it IS our negative emotions. it IS hunger and tied to living flesh--we must eat to grow and that is a 'gift' of the darkness. the void is being set to express a primordial quality of life--of us--and though it is an inherent evil, it is just a quality that makes us whole. The more we progress through the light/void plot the more it's a story of defining 'good' and 'evil' as both positive and negative exist in our souls, even azeroth's. cold logic would objectively deem void, death, chaos and destruction inherently evil and 'wrong' but for life to exist we need balance TWW has made it a point time and again that NATURE doesn't distinguish between good nor evil, it is inherently the flux of both. The natural world is MEANT to have a night and a day, a world without sunlight would be a nightmare, and a day without end would be oppressive and kill us all. TWW has made it a point to contrast floral blooms to predating fungi, and that's exactly why it's so important to see the nerubians as a culture not just evil spiders--they're a society of people who live and thrive in darkness. NOT every culture thrives in the light, not all life exists in the light. And that's why the void is so good. it ties into the ankoa as a people....the kobyss are a people twisted by 'evil' in darkness...just like the nerubians are twisting themselves to ascend, and the naga were elves twisted by their darkest urges...to prosper and thrive among the lightless realm--the depths. could even look at the earthen as they get twisted to skardyn, mindless killing machines (oddly reminiscent of demons. they even start using 'chaos' themed abilities...cant help but feel there's a tie in there too). As Xalatath says, it is 'survival of the fittest' in a realm of no light, and those who have the strongest HUNGER for power/knowledge/flesh end up 'ascending' as the inherent nature of darkness/evil is to survive, grow, thrive, advance. it is a simple and primordial force, which is why creatures like the skardyn, kobyss, and fungarians are so simple-minded/empty. they are functioning on the primal instincts, driven by negative emotions. Saezurah calls the combination of life/chaos/darkness innovation/adaptation. it's a quality of life that in isolation would be...cold blooded....but cold blooded creatures are just as much a part of life. AS life, when we consume (each other) and knowledge beyond nature there exists the potential to grow beyond the mortal coil...Azshara is an example of a mortal with a thirst for power rivaling that of a god which has made me think...old gods by nature are beings of flesh who not only grew enough to CONSUME THE WORLD but to see beyond the fabric of reality...as gods would. to see the 'grand design' and try to consume that too. the tendrils of darkness reach through the realms of life death order and chaos ready to breach the fabric of the cosmos themselves. and existing AS a flesh God in reality would be key to that process. just as they consume to grow, an old god is of flesh and can BE CONSUMED to feed another's growth....and they all know that. this is why consuming old god blood brings 'ascension' they're effectively handing down their knowledge/anima/essence of darkness to the next civilization until another 'god' is born to consume the world. ....i have an odd suspicion it will be Azshara....the elves had a taste of arcane knowledge, an understanding of the universe, and the most powerhungry, Azshara, wanted to play with gods. The downfall of chaos led her to the reflection of the darkness in her heart and reality itself where her negativity prospered and her people thrived as naga, and they've since had a hand in EVERY pot all across azeroth, with the depths unknown being the staging ground. She seeks ascension, her people prophecized her return and the nerubians were a part of that prophecy...they have their own prophecy on the walls of azjkahet where an old god will take beledar and usher in a world of midnight....That old god looks reminiscent of azshara's naga head with the vertical diamond eye.... the prophecy of the void is that Azshara's evil will consume the world, it's certainly not out of character for her, she already sundered the whole planet once... All N'zoth did was egg us (and her) on, his attempt was a feint considering he knew all along that he'd be passing the torch....that there will always be darkness in our hearts and someone to pass the 'hunger' to...Xal is doing the same thing and using the nerubians as a staging ground to advance the growth of darkness and reclaim what was lost when the gods died. Nefaress calls her people food for ascension, but the prophecy shows that even the nerubians are food for the true ascendant....AZSHARA.

I'm not certain that what's in the abyss is necessarily aligned with the void. I think it could rather be unaligned. Neither void nor light reach the depth and the krakens might want to keep it that way. Light coming to the abyss would force them to chose a side in this conflict. It kinda remind me of the leviathans in Mass Effect in that regard lol. Seriously though, "squidness" has so often been associated with void forces that maybe krakens have learned to avoid it like the plague and thus figured the best way to do it is to stand outside of the light/void dichotomy. Anyway that's just speculation !

Schizo rant time; Maybe it’s only ever been N’zoth. What if what we see as the other old gods are just the other parts of him. As we kill these other parts we kill his physical body, allowing his void soul to regenerate in the void. Maybe have the old gods all wrong, maybe N’zoth is really a void lord that was “imprisoned”, maybe N’zoth is really Azeroth..

Yeah, IDK man... Much like the bible, you can choose to interpret those rambling, vague statements pretty much anyway you might want to prove, or disprove anything.
