Yeah the Heavy D hits hard with smoke only issue is managing temps, as it does turn your grill into a wood burner. With that said it's great that someone is thinking outside the box.

im looking to get this for me 700 , do you actually have to leave the door cracked open? and how much does it toss off the temp in the grill with having the wood burning?

@@queenzdipped7408 I didn't, I just checked the temperature in the meat every hour and a half. At the time I didn't have wi fi meat thermometers.

Just ordered mine for my Rec Tec 590, excited to use it! more smoke flavor and save a few sheckles on pellets all at the same time.... sign me up....The money ill save not having to buy bags of pecan (my fave) and now having the option to use MUCH cheaper chunks of pecan (along with a cheaper blend of wood pellets) is a no brainer.

For a cheaper price I got great smoke out of the pellet smoker tube mixing pellets and small pieces of wood in the tube....

Are you loading your hopper with pellets for the process since they don't produce smoke you can tastes anyway. I've found the pellets seem to be for heat, not smoke, am I right? It seems it wouldn't matter if you fill the hopper or not. Thanks, I'll probably order one of these if I don't trade my PELLET COOKER for a stick first. Thank you for your response.

Yes and no. If you let the wood catch and monitor the smoke you should be fine however it’s hard to tell if that will happen consistently. I’m still very skeptical of the product.

Cool idea but 133 bucks for this is ridiculous. I'd rather buy a 10 dollar smoke tube.
