I ordered a few of these for my overheads in my studio. I was skeptical as to whether the ball and knob locking mechanism would hold, but to my surprise, I positioned my mic wherever I like, tighten the knob and it stays put. I am highly impressed. I will be purchasing more.

I think this is the most robust and versatile. I mostly use more traditional K&M stands, but the Triad-Orbit stuff is awesome!

@@AudioUniversity I can just speak for dealing with boom stands all my life when I used to play out. I always asked in frustration why they didn't just add weight? They were always tipping over! So much so that when I purchased a tripod boom stand later in life for mic'ing some recordings, I duct-taped my own weights at the bottom to prevent it. Finally, a stand that makes sense!

I spent a few grand on these stands and regret it. the ball joints slip and even crack. even with light mics attached. the clutches slipped as well, great Idea though but, really poor/failed outcome. I wouldn't recommend these to anyone. the Idea and marketing are far better that the actual stands. I was excited though.

That’s what I’ve noticed with the stands… I didn’t buy any but I have seen a bunch that have been used and abused and most of their parts are in a bin…

In any case few years ago there orbit system cannot support the weight of my micrphone. Solution ? garbage and tears.

These stands aren't cheap, but when you hold them it's clear that they're nice. May not make sense for every situation, though.

Price? Insane probably and for every accessorie to put on the “modular” stand probably costs as much as entry level mic…this will be a flop…great idea but its probably gonna be so expensive noone will buy it

I dunno - yes, they are ridiculously expensive, but they are aimed at the professional market e.g: touring musicians, or if you like, the person that doesn’t want to buy twice (or thrice). I’ve got the cheap mic stands and they work, but they are basically flimsy crap that would break after a few gigs. Fine for my little home studio, sure. My jaw did drop a bit when I looked up the prices on these though, not gonna lie.

Nice product - horrible pricing. I have watched over the years lots of fantastic products that price themselves for their R & D - most have gone out of business. The stand should be less than $100.00 - too bad. Of course some people will pay whatever you ask, but selling in the hundreds for a larger price, could be millions if priced to be just more than a normal mic stand, but not over 500 dollars. That is ridiculous.

Agree. I'm all for patents protecting marketable ideas, but when you price yourself out of the market for most of your potential customers, it is just an idea. Get these in the $150 or less range and every KZbin channel will market and sell them for you with better demonstration videos and use cases you never dreamed of.

You're right, Leo. These things are considerably more expensive than some other options. I don't imagine you'd ever need to replace them though, so it's probably worth it if you can afford to invest in them upfront.
