I can't say that I really like the watches. But it is companies like Richard Mille that are admired and loved for revolutionising the world of horology.

I agree, I don’t really like all his watches, and that just maybe because , I am not use to his illustrious designs, but I do appreciate and admire his impeccable craftsmanship and omg his story of how he finally decided to go and create his own brands, after working for other wealthy and famous ppl. It’s a bit like myself now, i’ve been working for other retail companies selling luxury fashions for years. It’s time I launched my own brand now. And that’s exactly what I am working on now.

I can be difficult to "get the brand." I do, and those who don't have not given their minds a chance to see what has been created. With breakthrough brands and watches they are usually reviled at first. Look at AP and the Royal Oak, Hublot and its Big Bang, and Mille with his tourneau shape. Each is disliked, accepted and then desired.

Nice watch collection, especially Richard Mille, ; by the way AP developed luxury stainless steel watch (Royal Oak) with help of Gerald Genta; and AP lost the luxury stainless steel segment monopoly when Patek hijacked Gerald Genta to design for Patek similar steel sport watch for them and named the watch Nautilus. So AP developed new sport model with Richard Mille, to counter Patek catching up game. AP sharing same research and development facility ; movement technology with Richard Mille and the new watch name is named Richard Mille, as if the name remains AP Richard Mille, ; the Patek pirates will hijack Richard Mille to design similar watch for them. This concept and relationship is similar to Nike and Jordan. So Richard Mille is actually a 20 years old luxury brand backed by a century old watch expert.

So they're expensive due to R&D costs, wasted materials etc. I'm wondering where the money for the huge sponsorship and rent of boutiques across the world comes from. He only sells less than 4000 watches a year and they're not over priced? Remember they cost what they do because it costs thousands to develop them lol. No, they're expensive because they're over priced, thats how you pay for sponsorship and boutique rent....RM plastic is the same price as GShock plastic.

Funny thing is Casio believes some of their G Shocks are worth in the thousands. Casio has made a killing in a area of the market that needed a tough while cost effective design. Something everyone can afford. But their heads are starting to match their egos. And they now are producing watches that throw them into an area reserved for brand name mechanical watches. And I will never ever consider any quartz watch to be worth that kind of money. To me it is like purchasing a Rolex Oysterquartz. Why? Buy a Bulova precisionist and have a much more accurate watch that doesn't break the bank. If you want to spend that much on a watch than stick with mechanical. Funny how many quartz watches can just all the sudden have issues durring a battery change. Even old brands like Seiko and Citizen have suffered issues with quartz movements. When you take a watch to the service center and this happens they usually throw away the movement and replace it with a new one. That doesn't speak to me as being a timepiece worth thousands. I laugh when I see a Suisse brand in a quartz where they jewel (or pearl ) the movement. It is like bedazzling a turd.

Severely overpriced timepieces pop out from nowhere without any history nor creativity nor any portfolios. Partner with AP and so call famous people to magnify the brand. Definite no no brand name for me.
@PoltergeistWorks6 жыл бұрын
There has to be a new brand to come up with new interesting stuff, so what if they are young? Not overpriced, it's worth what people are willing to pay for it. You can say something is overpriced if you're comparing two cotton t-shirts. AP is amazing, yes, but they are riding the Royal Oak train for how many years now? If it weren't for that (amazing) Genta design they would be out of business now, and it seems they will gladly grab some money (by making movements) from someone who is not affraid to risk doing crazy stuff in the watch world :)

One of the very few people in the world who can build a silly watch and charge way over what it is worth. Yes yes I know.. People buy them. It doesn't make these folks very smart though. I saw a RM sell for $ 1.3 million. Now people.. think about this for a moment. $ 1.3 million. Let's us put this into a bit of a realistic perspective. This is a super nice cabin in the woods. A Humvee, several really super nice Suisse watches and money left over in the bank. Richard Mille is a smart buisness man who knows where to find suckers to pay a premium for nothing all that special. Can anyone tell me where he is producing something truly exceptional and ground breaking? If you believe that he does then you need to search out other designs. A $1.3 million dollar watch that you accidentally bump into a door handle , or scratch while wearing it. How much is it worth then? My opinion but there are much better usage for that much money. You truly have to be super rich and live the lifestyle of the rich and shameless. Like I said opinions vary and this is just how I personally fell about Richard Mille and his Happy Meal watches.
