I bought the G3 awhile back and I love it so much. It sounds like a great tube amp and just sounds mean. If you turn the gain down it gives a good bit of dirt as well. Great video as always! Keep it up DBG!

Greetings from Mexico, I've been binge watching your channel this whole week and started to consider going back to play guitar. It's been 8 years and I haven't play since I started college. I'm considering getting a Fender Deluxe Nashville, but haven't seen you review those pickups and I'm wondering if it would be a good fit for me (it would be my first electric guitar, but played acoustic for 3 years). Anyways, love your channel.

Every demo I've heard of the G4 makes it seem it has a fizzy top end that would probably help cut in a busy mix, but heard on its own it's quite harsh. Maybe with a dark guitar and amp. The G3 seems generally more versatile IMO.

Great versatility demo. You don't really get a chance to hear them low gain very much. And a lot of the metal guys shy away from diming them too. It really showcased how different they actually do sound from each other. And how usable the full spectrum of gain really is. I like the G3 best

Got a little confused over your suggestion to use the G4 for rhythm… I always thought that it‘s the other way around, because most of the people that own the Generator amp, use it like this: G3 (purple) for Rhythm, G4 (red) for Solo/Lead. 😯 Anyway.. good review, thanks! 😎👍

I still have issue with making this pedal (REVV G4) work properly. I use it in the front input channel of Peavey Vyper 75w modeling amp .. definitely not sounding as it should based on what I see in videos etc.. maybe this pedal needs the loop effect , which I do not have on my amp

I know I'm a year late but looking to get one of these pedals and I can't decide which. All the demos I've seen I prefer the tone of the G4 but surely it's also different in person. just wanted to say the Boss Metal zone detroys this pedal! I had my cousins over yesterday to watch the game, Canadiens beat Boston in overtime by the way, and I had just bought the revv a couple of weeks ago and had rebough the metal zone. I had one in the 80's. so I start with the revv got an ok distortion but found that I couldnt tweek it any better and that it did not satisfy me, just missing perfection you know? this is paired with the Boss equalizer by the way in a v shap. so then I decide to try the metal zone that I know is very heavy, so I start tweeking to him playing this very heavy riff non stop and found many different cruching sounds but at the end of maybe 5min I found heaven no words could really explain it except for perfection. and even had room. but this spot simply was IT! crushed the revv to bites. it's distortion at max and the two middle button facing each other top and bottom buttons. the first 2 at 9 oclock and the second two at 3 oclock. around there you will find pure eargasm. Its the same as in the 80's I remembered I had the first 2 at 8 and the second 2 at 4 oclock. very close depends who's playing and pick ups etc.. but still around the same thing. this is in front of the amp. this amp has no fx loop but I remember in does days I had a peavy that had an fxloop and it sounded great both ways. The revv will be put on sale. I also have the Sabbra Cadabra for the sabbath sound that I will keep for now. I just got the Swollen Pickle for fuzz that I will be trying out. In conclusion for good distortion and huge versitility I recommend the metal zone hands down :)

So many gain pedals on the market with similar tones. I personally like the Friedman stuff but I'm aware if you a/b a lot of the stuff on the market these days the differences are minimal. Most of the time the decision will come down to price. Just my 2 cents.

A bit late, but: I use the G3 on a Marshall Silver Jubilee and… it sounds great. Running it through a 2x12 V30 speaker and a greenback-combospeaker. There’s more than enough clarity in terms of sound, despite the V30s, which are very aggressive. I’m planning on to buy a G4 for the leads/solo-stuff. To draw a comparison: my transistor boss katana head.. well, its the other way around. It does kinda sound oversaturated, like the pedal too much to handle. It lacks clarity and the sound isnt well enough defined. Though it roars, and does the job.
