Bos also makes a nice exhaust for the GS. there’s also Termignoni and SC Project, but the latter has issues with scorching the rear right turn signal. There is an embarrassment of riches when it comes to exhausts for the GS, but since they all sound like ass, pick the one you like most on looks. I kinda laugh when people harp on the weight on the can when their GS is usually weighed down with shiny luggage and protective armored pieces. Go with the coolest looking one according to your aesthetic tastes
@suburbanhobbyist27524 жыл бұрын
So because people put a bunch of extra weight on their GS they shouldn't care what the exhaust weighs? Strange thinking. Yeah, people are going to put lights, panniers etc on their adventure bikes so if weight can be saved somewhere else it is all the more important.

When riding a 1200 or 1250 the stock exhaust sound good. Quiet when you want but comes alive when you gas it up. It seems it is impossible to get the boxer engine to sound 'sexy' or get a good guttural note no matter what muffler is used. I agree with you, the boxer engine does not appear to gain any performance from reducing the exhaust back pressure like other bikes. So instead of spending $800-1300 for an extra 1-2hp you are spending it for the sound and weight! I do want the Remus but hard to get and to justify the expense in CA

I have a GS and the stock muffler sounds OK. Quiet when you want it to be (but still audible) and comes alive when you get on the throttle & revs. Perfect. An when on the bike it has a reasonable note & tone. I have ridden GS/GSA's with an Akra muffler and the 'noise' novelty soon wears off. With the 360 degree firing order of the boxer motor, it will never have a good exhaust note, no matter what muffler is fitted. Anyone spending money on one of these overpriced mufflers is doing it for form, not function.

eric the akrapovic is homologated so you can use that. The others, though, I’m not sure.
@slowpokegonzalez188616 күн бұрын
Eric, Akrapovic warns you in advance several times that their product is not for highway use (any public roads). What is easiest to remember, any aftermarket exhaust that you want to install on a motorcycle must have a "CARB" stamp on the muffler itself. CARB is California Air Resource Board. They are the fun killers. If you ever look in a Harley Davidson aftermarkets parts book, you will see a few pages of exhausts they sell and maybe two or three of them with have the little State of California stamp next to it showing that it is approved for sale to California. Hope this makes sense and good luck.
