There is a tiny torx head screw in the middle of the round bolt that could need tightening. You might be able to find that small size at a hardware store or if you try contacting Shark, they might be able to send you the adjustment tool. ~Ali

The Speed-R uses 2 shell sizes. The smaller shell size is used for sizes XS-M. ~Ali

One of the fundamental difference between the two is that the S700's shell is a thermoplastic construction, while the Shark Speed-R helmet is fiber based. This represents a pretty dramatic difference in protection, as any fiber design can diffuse energy with greater efficiency. -CK

I think the Shark Race-R Pro is a great helmet, but it will certainly be most appreciated on the track. The Speed-R borrows much of the DNA from the Race-R Pro, but is made for the street. If you were going to opt for one of these 3, I think the Speed-R will be the right choice. ~Ali

The Shark Speed-R has a more aggressive style and feature set and is slightly lighter weight. Personally, I'm not a big fan of air-pump cheek pad uses on the Scorpion EXO-1100, but it is still a solid helmet. ~Ali

I don't believe there is a difference in the helmet itself, but there are always new graphics being released each year. To my knowledge, the Speed-R is still named the Speed-R in the US. -CK

The Speed-R would be great on the track and has many of the same features as the Race-R Pro. Double check with your track day organization and make sure they don't require the helmet to be SNELL 2010 certified. The Speed-R is DOT and ECE rated only. ~Ali

Most of our customers find this helmet to be normal to slightly quiet on the road. Its hard to make an overall judgement of the helmet in this regard since noise depends so much on your specific riding geometry and motorcycle. -CK

I haven't spent any time on the road in a Shark Speed-R, but maybe there are some folks out there who can share their thoughts on wind noise? I can confirm that Shark did a nice redesign of the Race-R Pro this season and have reduced the wind noise by 4.5 dB (A), which is very impressive. If you are looking for ultra-quiet, this might be one to check out. ~Ali

Hmmm, I think I would choose the Speed-R for more sport riding and the GT-Air for more touring riding. If you are a sport-tourer I think either will work out fine. -CK

We don't have a review in the pipeline, however, from personal experience, I would recommend going Sena or Cardo. Both of these brands have had a lot more experience in the bluetooth world than Shark. -CK

I bought this bought from Revzilla and out of all the helmets I have (Shoei RF-1100, Bell RS-1, and Bell Star) this has got to be my favorite helmet. It's pretty quiet, fits comfortably, and the most stable helmet I have. I also love the internal sun visor. The Saur graphics is the amazingly nice and I can't get over how much I love this helmet. I would definitely recommend this helmet for everyday street riding.

I absolutely love this thing. Had first hand experience with those visors... I was riding down a back road at 90km/h when a seagull smacked into my face. The visor almost got knocked off, but there was no cracks at all along the visor or the shell. But my neck did get pretty fucked up.

I've put about 600 miles so far on this helmet, not too much but enough to give me a review! I usually commute about 30-45 minutes per trip. This helmet vents pretty well and is very clear. The built-in sunglasses are awesome!!! Makes riding in the morning and night a breeze. Very comfortable helmet though, I've tried my brother's Arai Quantum II and I must say it's a bit more comfortable for me. Other than that, this is a great helmet for spirited riding and commuting!

if you are afraid that this helmet wont be allowed on the track, you can always contact them. I asked the people at Thunderhill and they said that it would be fine if I had a ECE 22.05 helmet instead of SNELL.

Have this helmet and I'm quite pleased. Killphil05 this helmet comes with a clip on chin curtain not mentioned in the review.. Only complaint would be that when the visor is fully locked down it is impossible to open with winter leather gloves on. All in all good helmet..

The Speed-R is a nice helmet and I love it because it fits. I also love it because it comes with a secondary tinted visor. With this design, it's unnecessary to have to purchase a separate tinted visor and it also makes day and night riding convenient. Additionally, the Speed-R is designed to accomodate people who wear eyeglasses. This makes things way more comfortable as the helmet's inner cushions don't press on the eyeglasses.

I'm wearing a speed R texas. Overall really confortable and feels safe. A feature to close the venturis would be nice for winter. Also I notice wind noise is an issue when the visor is open. It whitles noisily. When closed though, It's pretty good. No whistling but wind noise does seem to get in around my ears much moreso than even my cheap old AGV K3. Now having said that, I could never go back because all the other features like feeling safe, the sunglasses, removable breath guards and general comfort as well as the pinlock antifog sheild add up to a way better helmet.

WEATHER: Possibly the most versatile helmet I've used. Remove chin curtain and open vents, then it vents well into the 90's! Add Chin Curtain and close vents, then it works well down into the 40's. PROS: Not as light as some carbon's, but pretty close. Excelent field of vision! Stock anti-fog properties are better than any I've seen. WIND: Handles direct wind extremely well and still works well on a SuperSport. Shoulder check will tug when upright but not when leaned. Crossing Fingers for RC8R!

Thank you for the reply Ali, but i actually was talking about the actual visor. I changed it to a dark smoke, but this seems alot more loose then when i was using the prefit white one. Ive tried turning the nobs in the side, they look like round dails, But honestly i'm slightly afraid if i put too much strength on it i might break something. I think i might have to pop off the lil round thing on the round dails, and adjust that. But currently have no tools to my disposal..

I bought this helmet recently. And i must say its very good. Looks great, amazing airflow without crazy much sound from the outside. And man the Mat-black looks great with a dark smoke visor. Pricey but can you really put a price on your head? Only thing really anoyys me is the chinstrap. It feels.. cheap.. to say the least. And thats probably why you diden't even mention it in this review. (and if you did, my appologies.. i'm a skipper) xD

Great Helmet! I love the internal sun visor and pinlock antifog insert. The airflow is also great. The only complaint is high wind noise at speeds above 80km/h. I've cut polystyrene and placed it where the sharktooth speakers are designed to go to try reduce the noise. Seems that wind gets in between the rear neck roll and the cheekpads. Wonder if I could buy a Race-r pro neck roll and use it on the Speed-R?

Big fan of this helmet and it was a big upgrade from a Shark s700. Breathes really well for those 35C+ days if you take the chin curtain off and nice snug with it left on. Vision is great with both the thick shield and internal visor. One thing that was odd is the internal recess for the earphones are nowhere near where I needed them for an intercom. Way too far back.

The Speed-R has been quite a letdown for me. I've had one for 6 months and the top vent plastics on both sides have deformed quite badly (from heat?) so they no longer sit flush. While the Sun Visor seems brilliant at first it will fog up unlike the pinlock clear visor. And lastly the main visor seems to need monthly tightening with the provided Allen key, this was never an issue on any of my previous helmets.

Shark have DOT and ECE standard. No Snell. In testing made by Motorrad from Germany, Shark and Schubert have the best G rating in crashing forces. Better then Arai and Shoei.

Andy Batchelor Maybe . . . maybe not. If you dropped it from three stories up, yeah - new lid. If it just fell off your bike, chances are it's okay unless there's a crack in it. Helmets are designed to protect your head, so if there isn't any weight inside the helmet when it falls, the shell is able to disperse the force and not compress the EPS foam. If there is weight inside, that's when things get dicey. -Kraus-e
