My fanttik x8 arrived yesterday, but it's inaccurate, at least compared with other tire gauges. I set it to 32 psi, and it stops airing up which is good, exactly what it's supposed to do. However, when I check the pressure with three other pressure gauges, they all reflect 34.5 psi, for a difference of 2.5 psi. I aired it back down and then back up, and was able to replicate the same outcome. It is an awesome litte gadget for the price, but it should at least be accurate. Nothing against Yammie and his channel. Perhaps I got a dud and it's just a one-off occurrence.

Something that EVERY rider should know is that DOT certification doesn't mean a single thing for safety. First off the specs to hit for DOT certification is laughably poor. It's based on very outdated information. Secondly it's a SELF CERTIFIED system, meaning the manafacturer tests it, or gets it tested by a non government 3rd party, they say it passed and that's it. The government doesn't issue the certification, and when tested many many "DOT certified" helmets fail the test. Fortnine has a great video about how garbage DOT is. If you care about safety, do your research
@jakegarrett81092 жыл бұрын
Worse is that their passing rating is still an impact that would be lethal. Don't worry though, big daddy government is totally there for your best interests...

I'll guarantee the helmet in this video was tested by no one. They just slipped a fake sticker on it and sent it out. I believe the trusted brands make dot helmets that would exceed dot requirements. When you throw a good helmet it should crack the outside casing, its designed that way to absorb the impact and not transfer it to your skull. I would recommend the standard DOT test (which is very basic, its a weight like a bowling ball dropped from a specific height and I think one of those shock stickers, its like $20 to test). However be warned, DOT approved means it can still be lethal levels of shock to your skull even at their tested impact (its a terrible spec, normal people would call death for user as a FAIL, not a pass)

@quillmaurer65632 жыл бұрын
In decades past everyone got sued over everything, no matter how frivolous. Since then companies have figured out how to add just the right fine print to be un-suable, meaning those who deserve to be sued most are hardest to. A parameter we should look at for any company is how much they spend on making their products not worth suing over versus adding the right legal jargon to make them impossible to sue. Unfortunately the former people will still find reasons to sue. In this case the company that makes it is surely foreign and can vanish the instant someone tries to sue them, while Amazon has enough legal clout to avoid being complicit, pass the blame onto some other business that can vanish the moment it needs to. Just like their labor practices, they find ways of doing stuff that is bad but they can't legally be blamed for.

"Spike's New Helmet" still a better story than the last Predator film (where the predators wanted to weaponise autism)

My POV: Holy shit that's a dope helmet and bike. I wonder who that mysterious bad ass on the bike is?!!! BAD ASS ON BIKE POV: (Nerd voice) I'm actually goooing to get off the freeway because I have 0 visibility, and this clinking sound from the loose strap on my helmet is driving me craaazzy

You may have already mentioned, but what model Honda are you riding as you evaluate the Amazon helmet. That’s for the info on this and riding clothing. Keep it up. Thanks.

It would definitely be better if you took off the plastic façade and just ran it as a half helmet but even still, that's probably lesser than one of the $80 Walmart helmets.

How about a side-by-side destruction test of the predator vs. a real helmet? Something like some of the old Fortnine crash test vids to really highlight just how dangerous novelty crap like this is.

"Sharp" out of the UK does extensive testing, impact zones, straps, latches etc. Invaluable.

See how it holds up to various pistol, shotgun and rifle rounds. Anyway, that’s Amazon looking out for their valued customers (and China).

I'm so appauled at how retailers are allowed and actively sell this garbage. I have a N87 helmet because of the great price point, great safety ratings and how comfy it is! Highly recommend the n87 anyday. Really good vid btw!

Looking at that is junk however I did find a Amazon helmet that I’m very happy with has removable liner and is modular it’s a typhoon helmet. Also on recommendation from an old motorcyclist test where they took really expensive stuff and really cheap stuff and did an testing, my ZOX helmet has been a champ for the last few years. Then of course you can never go wrong with an HJC.

DOT certification basically mean it MIGHT be better than nothing at this point. MIGHT!
@trevor28302 жыл бұрын
Sounds that way. They did say it was a fake sticker though
@TheRealxKaydo2 жыл бұрын
@@trevor2830 but it’s not like the DOT is hunting down companies for using false DOT stickers so it makes it a moot point of contention. It’d be like if the ATF ‘approved’ a handgun right down despite their actions clearly displaying a desire to ban most if not all firearms indiscriminately. If you aren’t willing to defend what your supposedly standing for it leaves you looking stupid when you talk about it.

My guess would be that might pass DOT before they drilled holes in in.
@quillmaurer65632 жыл бұрын
The box it came in could be "DOT certified." It's utterly meaningless, very weak standards and half the helmets "approved" by it's self-certification process don't pass the actual tests.

Sounds like my open face MX helmet. And the chin strap sounds like my HJC. When the strap keep slapping off your helmet that gets real annoying real quick. My HJC has a spot to snap it up but it's very long and lets you know if you forgotten
