As a Daily rider, The K5 IS a reasonably comfortable Bike. I did a 400 Mile ride once and I felt good at the end, I also managed to get 177 miles before needing to fill up (almost 50mpg). You can ride as smooth or as aggressively as you want to, it depends on your throttle control, with the ample mid-range torque, there is no reason to play tunes with the gearbox either. I do plan on taking My Gixxer to the Nurburgring someday soon(1100 mile round trip). Admittedly, it's not as comfortable as my B12(Bandit!). N.B There is NO difference between the K5 and the K6

The last fully analogue 1000 Superbike Suzuki ever made. Many people (mostly newer/younger riders have no idea of the impact the K5/K6 had on the game back then, also the K1 1000. You actually HAD to be able to ride back then to get the best of this bike with no electronics to make up for your lack of skillset. It will always be legendary especially since Suzuki will never make a bike like it again. If you own one already. Never sell it!

Dave looks like he was ridden hard and put away wet it’s entire life. I have a 2005 GSXR 1000 with 45,000 miles on it. I bought it in 2009 with 25,000 miles for $5800. I regularly maintain it. I have never tracked it or raced it. Not that I don’t ride when and how I want. It has never failed me and has been the most fun I’ve had on two wheels. I span 36 years on bikes on and off pavement, so I think I have enough experience to say it is one of the finer machines out there. I am kind of curious what you all added that cost $4000. The only after market item I have is the Yoshimura slip on that came on it from the previous owner. I finished the video and saw the mods. I must disagree with your assessment. My bike does not have a name and looks factory. I ride it as a commuter and pleasure bike. Totally worth the initial money and all the maintenance.

If you're basing that on their track comparison, I don't think Buttonwillow looks like a track where you'd get to make the most of a power advantage. The front straight looks relatively short. Edit: Talking especially about the West Loop configuration they rode, where the longest straight is from the Esses to Sunset.

Personally I think it should be stated, everyone seen Arie's reaction after he was done with that lap on Dave. That's what motorcycling is all about. Giving you that rush of adrenaline and excitement. Which also speaks volumes in itself. Once he got comfortable on the bike, and realized there's no gadgets or gimmics, just pure skill he was good. Not to take anything from the Ducati, which is a gorgeous machine, but is all that tech really necessary? With the exception of ABS, all this tech really just makes noobs feel like Rossi's. If you can't handle a bike without all the tech, maybe you shouldn't be on one. Just a thought

Jokes aside, ive also done a bunch of research about them. Correct me gixxer bro’s, but I’m pretty sure the next gen k7/k8 is only heavier because of the dual exhaust. Also has better frame that corrected the susceptibility to cracking from dropping a wheelie hard or other abuse. Glad you guys did this series. I was leaning more toward the cross-plane motor, but seeing it face off against the ducati, cemented this bike as best bang for buck performance. Can find super clean ones $4-5k all day. Even seen one with ohlins and all the aftermarket goodies you could ask for including carbon wheels for like $7k? Was Miami Fl, and probably sold since...but was for sale for at least a whole year there. Guy knew what he had and wasn’t budging.
