Fun fact about Scrat the sabertooth squirrel: it was supposed to be completely made up. They just created something that potentially could've existed back during the ice age. Sure enough, come years later after the movies were made, it's discovered the sabertooth squirrel did in fact exist.

Just to clear up some things: Diego was originally scripted to die in this movie, that's why his injuries were played out as being grievous; they changed last minute because people thought it was too sad. The 20k year cliffhanger w/ Scrat was supposed to be the official ending because they thought the movie would bomb.
@LyricAiLove Жыл бұрын

This movie is so good. It still holds up today imo. I know the CGI is outdated but I think even that holds up well because they went for a stylised look rather than photorealism. And I agree about the silent story telling in that scene. Letting the music and animation sell the emotion in the scene was the perfect choice.

50:36 this bit really got me, my nephew lives in another country and he’s old enough now to realise we are gone and miss us. The last time we left he had to be restrained by his mum and was reaching for me crying his eyes out calling me back. I’m not even joking, I considered dropping my whole life where I live and relocating within a 5 mile radius of my nephew. I’m not entirely sure I’ll ever recover 😅😭 even though he video calls me pretty much every day 😂

My Mum and I would quote the 'I don't eat junk food" all the time. We loved Diego's sarcasm! Funny on how you commented how short the film is, I don't know the full details but I heard that this was originally meant to be a short instrumental film but then something got it turned into a full length speaking film. For future possible animated reactions will you please add 'Treasure Planet', 'Atlantis the Lost Empire', 'Rise of the Guardians' and 'Rescuers Down Under' to your list? They're all considered underrated but fun films that I think you both would have a great time watching.

The old roman graffiti you're talking about could be the runes carved into the Hagia Sofia in Constantinopel. It says "Halvdan was here" and is from the viking age. It was pretty common for fighters from the nordic countries to travel down there and work as guards, so it is belived that the runes was made by one of them.

23:06 I’m pretty sure that tiger is voiced by Diedrich Bader, who has done a TON of voiceover work in addition to on-screen acting as well. The better fact is the fact that the other tiger with him is voiced by Jack Black which as soon as you know is so apparent, but I didn’t know it for the longest time 🤣

Manny is so good hearted. Even though his family was destroyed by humans, he doesn’t do the same to the humans who love Pinky. He rises above that resentment and grief, which is why his backstory is so powerful, along with the beautiful animation of that moment with the cave pictures

10:18: interesting question. Sabertooth cats did have retractable claws just like modern cats but they were much bulkier and muscular too so I'm not sure. I'm guessing they were like lions or tigers in regards to climbing as in yeah, they could climb just not very well and would probably be rather hesitant to climb up a tree unless they had to.

Apparently Sid was originally going to be a lot more of a jerk (there's deleted scenes where he conned children out of food and pushed the clingy girl sloth into oncoming animal traffic). However the director cut it. He felt it didn't make sense for his character if he was going to save the baby and it made him far too unlikeable rather than well-meaning and annoying. EDIT: The second tiger's voice is Diedrich Bader, who is a very well known VA. His most recent live action role was as the park ranger in The Blackening.

I don't know if this was a conscious choice of the filmmakers but there's cave paintings that will have two colors on the same animal because the firelight would then make them appear to move. And the way the Mammoth Backstory Scene is animated feels like that was the inspiration.

TtThis movie is so amazing, especially two things I like the most: First: Manny is such an incredible character: humans killed his wife and his child and he still brings a human child back to the father, just fantastic! And second: when the father gives the necklace of his wife to Manny. He gives the only thing that reminds him of his wife to the one who has brought him the most important. I don't know, but even as a kid I always found these two facts magical and just wonderful! But one thing makes me really sad, everytime I'm thinking about it (little SPOILER for the next movies): Manny won't wear the necklace in the other movies :( If he would, that would make my second favourite scene much more heartwarming!!
