Was at a local Wildlife Park here in Scotland a few days ago, taking photographs of Amur Tigers and 2 adult, Snow Leopards with 3 cubs. Their enclosure, being the side of a steep , rocky hillside was quite realistic. They breed them and people get chance to see such marvellous creatures up close. But so nice to see them in their natural habitat. Thank you for a great documentary film and for all those helping to conserve these elusive animals.

Enclosures make all the difference. Here in San Diego, California, we have one of the “best” zoos, or so they say… but for decades, the snow leopards we’re housed in a large wire screen cage, with cement flooring and some large conifer trees to perch in. In total, the entire enclosure was maybe 30’ wide x 20’ high x 20’ deep, or 9m x 6m x 6m… Way too small. Oftentimes, you’d clearly be able to see the leopards, but they just would be sleeping way up high. And the same setup, for years, for the pumas, lynx, Amur leopards, wolves and various other felines & canids. Thank God they changed those out… meanwhile, the zoo’s second location, the San Diego Safari Park, has a wooded hillside enclosure that is absolutely massive, filled with bamboo, rocks, caves & hiding places. Just a much better setup. So good that you rarely can even see the animals. People say “what’s the point” but your visual appreciation isn’t necessarily the point! Ha! Also here in San Diego, where we are obviously at sea level (and conditions are much warmer than the mountains of Central Asia), the zookeepers give the snow leopards (and polar bears, bharal, etc) regular snow showers. They do this by using a modified firehose that freezes the water into pure snow. It’s the perfect enrichment for the snow leopards, and they often hide food and medication treats in the snow to find.

@@ChemicalXII You shut up. global temperature is increased by 1 degree. There is scientific evidence out there, go and read. Go and see in Africa where water is drying up. Go into nature and you will see the changes. Smog is not fake, and floods and earthquakes are not simulated. A 1-degree change in climate means millions are bacteria are favored more, and millions die early. 1 degree doesn't affect how we feel but on a micro level, it does. yes, there is false advertising, like paper straws and the banning of plastic packs. And the 8% you are talking about is only the front page. Mining chemicals and minerals, farming, and industrial waste is the bigger picture. Certainly, humans are doing all this, no other specie can do this. Sorry for the long comment. I also kinda agree with your point.

calm and kind like the breeze, quick and elusive like the wind, light and wandering like the clouds, spotless and pure like the rain, Green and promissing like the spring, current and roaring like the river, hard and firm like the mountain, deep and deep like the ocean, blazing and bright like the sun, vast and unassuming like the desert, green and lively like the tree, blue and endless like the sphere, hidden and smiling like the bud, funny and blooming like the flower, hopeful and A rainbow like a human.❤

India is only best place to see snow leopards in the world with high guarantees India did wonderful job in increasing the population of snow leopards by the way gilgit baltistasn is actually a indian part which is illegally occupied by pakistan Allowing hunting in gilgit baltistasn will make situations worse for both prey and predators and also for natural vegetation What a foolish idea is this to introduce hunt of prey to protect for people livestock from predator just for economical benefits not for gilgit baltistasn but only for punjab and punjabis in a name of hunt expedition and charging high fees which major portion will go to punjab and little will go to gilgit baltistasn with everyday hard work

They’re very few in comparison here for the land, most are kept in cages in urban backyards and any encounter leads to a hunt.

Nice work and great efforts. Hopefully there is enough prey in the mountains for Snow Leopards and they don't have to kill people's livestock. They should keep large breed dogs too to deter the leopards.

Hopefully we will be able to formulate effective conservation plans to protect our wildlife and ecosystems. The 🐕 suggestion has been talked about a lot and something that should be considered. Having said that, dogs can also become a problem when they become feral due to our negligence and now pose a great threat to the wildlife in all of central Asia. It needs to be done right.
