I replaced the screen/controller on my Bafang m400 mid drive. It has now become very saucy, and seems to be producing a lot more torque. Also it has unlocked speed adjustment.

FOR EVERY ONE OUT THERE The Red is the positive / the black is ground / and any other colour will always be the single (( Always 3 wires ))

thanks i bought a throttle off ebay for my ariel rider and it gave an error, my wires were black and yellow but switching them worked.

That would be extremely bulky! Better to just solder the joins and seal with heat shrink tubing!

Electric tape is often better than shrink tubing. Then you can shrink tube over the electric tape.

Uh. I watched again and he is VERY conservative with the use of electric tape which is practically free. It should be used very liberally. Start one meter from the connection and go over it diagonally while pulling so it gets a tight snug fit, go over it six to sixteen times. Then put a shrink tube over it and then sink the whole thing in mineral oil just to be sure.

I bought one from Aliexpress and alas it is not working. on my Duotts c29. I may try your repair or even may even try to swap the wires round at the throttle side.

@@garysprojects I was able to separate it a wee bit and mucked it up trying to seperate the wires which were black green and red, black one seemed to be the signal wire. one of the wee terminals fell off so I chucked it out!

Hi Gary! can you post the exact bafang throttle you've used? I checked two I had but they both had different coloured wires ( one was gray, black purple and the other was red black and blue)

Unfortunately *not allowed in Germany* . Pending a story from my neighbor's son - because of him I know now. In order to be allowed to use thumb throttle, you have to have an "S-Pedelec" and these are treated like Motorscooters by the law. However, these S-Pedelecs are also allowed to drive at 45 km/h instead of the 25 km/h like E-bikes. But for S-Pedelecs you need at least a "small" 50kmh Teenager driver's license, insurance (so you get a license plate), helmet is absolutely mandatory and it is forbidden to ride on the sidewalk. If the police catch on an E-bike with thumb throttle, it can even cost you your regular driving license in the worst case of an accident. If they catch you during a normal check, the ticket isn't funny either. Even if you own the Biggest Motocycle License they will fine you. A neighbor's son (now 16) who was repeatedly caught with thumb gas and too fast (almost 40 km/h) has now been given from court a driver's license ban up to the age of 20. In Germany Car driving licenses are allowed the age of 18. After the ban, when he is 20 years old, he has to take a mental aptitude test. As a repeat offender, he got an entry in the driver's license register for "willful repeated violation of traffic rules". They will check if he is more grownup to understood what is going on in Traffic and if he gets it to obey trafficrules. This can be interpreted very, very negatively, should it ever come down to whether you take traffic rules seriously at all. In the worst case, he is not allowed to do a driver's license even at 20.. because of a thumb throttle and 40kmh tuned e-bike at the rascal age of 15-16 years. Such nonsense can destroy your entire working life right from the start in Germany.

Hello, i live in Holland and by law it's permitted to have a throttle on an e-bike, but it should be limited to 6km per hour. For this in my KT-controller the C4 setting should be 1. Regards

My twist throttles have signal so no voltage so would that be crossing the black and red over and leave the white signal wire?

@@garysprojects Thanks for the very quick reply Gary. My one has 130x in tiny letters on the casing and I have the same end connector as yours (I got mine on Amazon).. I just looked at ebay photos for your description above and see 130x when I zoom in.. One further question, when you show the throttle working at the end of the video, did you just connect the throttle connector and leave the pedal sensor wire attached?

ya i did, i have option for both so just kept it in, i am running both pedal sensor and throttle right now

Just like you I still have no idea what I'm actually doing ..Researching about the compatibility of this throttle with my bike. obviously you just copying something that worked for somebody else with the exact same products not useful for any of us if we don't know what your products are. Tip. Conceal your connections in silicon or use some solder a joint that will be exposed to rain/oxidisation will break down. Wire aint what it used to be..
