They also should’ve included complications of freeing Calypso in the plot. They just completely abandoned the third movie and any form of continuity to the previous. Pintel and Ragetti should’ve returned as their side characters, because their witty banter and antics were crucial to the plot even if they didn’t directly interact with the main cast. Plus, they were hilarious. They should have just waited for Gore Verbinski to be available. The writers were alright but just forgetting the original cast for no reason was stupid. The only thing I’m grateful for was that they kept Jack and Mr. Gibbs and Barbosa. (Even if he wasn’t as cool as he was in the previous movies). Also it seemed the movies just lacked that gringy, pirate feeling. The color pallet was lighter, and the mood just didn’t seem… “pirate-y.”

The thing that baffled me about blackbeard is that where was he during the 3rd movie where all the pirates came to fight for their way of life, especially since he is known as this pirate that all pirates fear you would think that he would have some presence in the war from the 3rd movie ? Unless if they made his story that he is the embodiement of what Jack mightve become if he chose to runaway and not face Davey Jones, what if just like Jack Blackbeard made a deal with Davey Jones but when it was time to pay up blackbeard ran away to land giving up on being a pirate and hiding on land thinking that Jones can never find him and that his pirate days are over and he'll never go out to sea again accepting his cowardly fate of leaving the sea without trying to face his problems unlike what Jack did, but surprisingly when davey jones does die blackbeard can niw come back to the sea with no fear of the flying dutchman but too old and without a crew to be as strong as he once did years ago he decides to go out on his magical ship on all on his own despite his weak state in search of the foutain of youth to be young again and make up for lost time all while collecting ships and kudnapping crew to his crew building up an armada that he can fully use with its full force as soon as he is young again, the mivie can end with him actually reaching his goal and becoming young again and with the huge armada of ships he has collected throughout his return the 5th movie can start off with all the 7 seas suffering under his tyranny leading to another war by the end of it that will end blackbeard once and for all

The very moment he was introduced as "THE BLACLBEARD" all I had in mind was literally this ... kinda like when Marvel introduces a new hero in their never-ending cast. Another point is that he hadn't for a single moment given me any sort of tension ; he was pathetic all while the movie is pretending that he is THAT dude and we all know em already in account of his name. Man could get shouted at by his crew and does nothing but stare or at best he would kill them in the most avoidable way possible. Such a drop off from Davy Jones or even Barbossa

Jeez dude, it would've been such an opener if we see the Pearl get attacked by the Queen Anne's Revenge. Like we spent the last 3 movies with the pearl for a good amount of time. Literally in each movie, there was a big amount of screen time involving the Pearl, even if she was on the villain side in the first movie. It did kinda suck we just saw her in a bottle, yet at least it wasn't straight up destroyed again. Barbossa's exposition of what happened to him and the Pearl got me really interested and curious.VERY curious. While honestly, it would be a little heartbreaking because just like Jack, I love the Black Pearl and I have a liking when it comes to pirate ships and I adore the fact that Jack considers the Pearl as his prized possession in life, so seeing the Pearl get attacked and what I'm assuming, Blackbeard killing off the familiar crewmembers, like Pintel, Raggeti, and Cotton, it would be hella sad to watch but a much more better opening to the movie IMO.

I hated that there's nothing that connects this film to the previous movies, other than the map with the circles, that gets burned in the first act. Calypso was freed, Davy Jones's corrupt rule of the sea doesn't exist anymore, the brethren court of Pirate Lords has disbanded. The world of Piracy should have a massive political battle for power over the seas! Barbossa makes a great protagonist in that setting, and Captain Jack Sparrow always functions best as unpredictable sidekick who goes back and forth between the protagonist and antagonist, always looking out for his own interest: eternal life. I actually think that Syrena and Philip could work, but instead of Philip being taken by Syrena into the mermaid life, it should be the other way around, Philip and Syrena being introduced to Pirate Life, setting them up as characters that could appear in sequels. I think it would actually be beautiful if the "Sailor is being tempted to his Death" plot is inverted to "Mermaid is being tempted to adventurous life".

the Spanish have a good motivation and its explained quite well in the movie, they see the fountain as an abomination towards the catholic faith and their not wrong the fountian does not grant eternal life it robs one life span to give to another which just another form of human sacrifice which all Christians at the time detested, its just not explored for the sense of suspense also If jack in the film knew that the spanish were going to destroy it he just leave black beard

My biggest gripe is the fact that this movie feels disconnected from the original trilogy; mainly that it doesn't really hold up as a sequel. In the last movie the concept of goals, stakes, and urgency were at full effect. The goal of At World's End is to obtain freedom by killing Jones and Beckett, the stakes are pirates, and essentially freedom, will go extinct, and the urgency is that pirates are being killed left and right incredibly quickly. sacrificing

I like your idea for Scrum replacing Phillip and having a more fatherly protective bond with Syrena. It’s a nice arc for him to have after being so shallow about wanting a mermaid kiss. I also like that you brought Pintel and Ragetti back, but I’d be curious to see how the writers’ original plan to have them separated when Blackbeard captures the Pearl would’ve played out. I’ve imagined a version where Ragetti is actually the one in Phillip’s place since he’s sort of religious anyway, and he just wants to help Syrena escape because he thinks Pintel’s dead and he wants to pay forward all those times when Pintel saved him over the years.

I read somewhere there was an actual script which was going to include Pintel and Regetti being on two different ships not knowing what became of one another but would later meet again during the fountain of Youth.

It would have been nice if Scrum was given more to do and more personality rather than just staying around as comic relief. At least Pintel and Ragetti had personality and were given a few moments to shine, but with Scrum nothing really comes of him nor has any heroic moments. Be basically just comes off as pointless I wouldn’t have gotten rid of Philip and Syrena’s relationship. I absolutely loved their chemistry. It’s a shame we might never see them again

I really thought they were going for a new trilogy with the fourth film as we had Barbossa being the main villain in a single film, Davy Jones as the main villain for a duology and then if they did somehow succeeded in Black beard's character, it could've been a masterful series but of course end it on the sixth. And yes I have to definitely, definitely agree that after seeing the fifth movie and read on what the are planning on the sixth... the fourth was just okay... it wasn't too, too bad-

I would also change how Angelica was treated. It was honestly misogynistic and uncomfortable how she just blindly loved Blackbeard throughout the entire movie even when he showed multiple times that he didn’t care about her. She should really have accepted that at some point in the film and turned against him.

As far as the removal of the Spaniards, I completely agree. I genuinely feel the writers simply stuck in the 4-way standoff at the end to add tension that wasn't earned by actual stakes created for the main characters. Jack, who should be the main focus of the film seeing as Will Turners arc was put on hold, should have actual motives and reasoning for being along on the journey. However, because he's simply a passive bystander the audience begins to ask themselves one simple but devastating question that never should be about a main character: Why are you here? I suppose he becomes captured by Blackbeard, but doesn't show actual concern about this fact. Whereas in "Dead Man tell no Tales" when Jack is essentially just a comedic tool to bring levity but no actual development to the story, Stranger Tides did manage to characterize him well, at least visually. I've always given this film credit for its opening England chase sequence. Jack especially shakes in his chains to get them removed before the king arrives, lays a napkin on the ground, and even grabs a cream puff which seems insignificant, but all makes sense later to tell us what a master strategist Jack is. In any event, great overview, especially with the addition of shortening the cliff-jump sequence. A tight story is often a good one, and this film simply becomes bloated by the end as it doesn't believe it's plot is strong enough, of which it isn't. Thanks and have a good one- Redfish Blue Films

The Shrek the Third of the franchise. Releasing an actual masterpiece that almost got a billion dollars and then releasing a lackluster sequel that shouldn't exist except Shrek didn't have to end after 2 whereas this should've ended after 3. Even though the last movie breaks the lore, it is at least interesting and the ending is great.

It would have been cool if we saw a flashback where Blackbeard manages to collect all his ships, then maybe throw in a ship battle or two, and also give Scrum more depth, personality, and a bit more to do instead of just having him around for one line jokes. But other than those three things, this movie is pretty much perfect. I don’t so much mind that it’s distant from the first three and gives us a breath of fresh air with new characters and a new story. In my opinion, this is a heavily underrated film.

My take on POTC 4 as a musical adaptation like POTC 5 as a musical. Instead of two acts unlike 5th, but one act show bc I'll put on Disney parks and cruise lines. My take on the story will be like Julius Caesar play retelling with allusion to Rapunzel tale and myth of Theseus. I headcanon that the movie is based on Jack's pov on how he told from his head and my musical concept is based on Angelica and Barbossa's pov on how they actually remember the events happened in the musical.

I don't think that budget of $378 million is very accurate. That news come from Christian Sylt that is a journalist that very often writes fake news of Formula One. If this movie cost really $378 million, how many money Disney get in return?

Massive hot take but this is my favourite of all 5 films. Would've added extra 10-15 minutes to get more of the Spanish and would have the Spanish captain hate Jack and Jack would kill him at the end but he would return from the dead as the same character as Salazar in the 5th film.
