FIRST DRIVE! In my V6 SWAPPED Toyota MR2 *INSANE SOUND* + POV Action

Bleeding a MR2 coolant system is a literal art and has to be done with the car on a decent angle *front down. It can take months to work those small air pockets out. Thoes air pockets expand and push your good coolant back out the reservoir. Drive up and down hills gently to try and work thoes air pockets through while replacing the expelled air with new coolant. Ive owned MR2's for along time, message me if you need a more detailed explanation.

Hello Get a quiet muffler system, not grampa quiet but one that does not drone at highway speeds. Four reasons, one you can film with shouting at the camera, two no headaches from constant droning, three you can listen to music at reasonable volumes while driving and four you won't get pulled over and defected for be too loud. If you are traveling for a long trip you will thank me. You should think about having your car tuned on a dyno. I don't know about the availability of E85 in your part of Australia is but with a flex fuel sensor and proper tuning you could produce huge horsepower and save money as well. You think about installing a fuel cell in the boot of your MR2 to extend your range. Petrol in a V6 with a 50 liter tank doesn't go very far. Love your car, really happy to see you doing all of the work yourself, and great to see your mates helping out and also driving MR2's as well. These are my favorite cars, especially the body style like yours. Keep up the good work.

For info....the tacho from the camry will fit the MR2 cluster...brings the RPM in line 👍😄 . .. And yes the coolant bleed after the swap is a nightmare ...My sons did the same for days till we got all the air out.

Rex, regards your coolant leaking, I’ve seen others on your feed mentioning to make sure the system is bled properly. I had an n/a in my 20’s and had exactly the same issue, kept building pressure and leaking, I bled it numerous times and still same problem. Eventually the radiator pipe which runs the length of the car above the fuel tank cracked and I had to have it replaced. You more than likely have holes in the same pipe therefore keeps building up a vacuum. If problem continues might be worth changing the pipe.

Rex, you probably won't see this, but I've got a mongoose system on my 1mz v6 MR2 and even with a decat pipe it isn't too loud at all. In fact it sounds beautiful. Really recommend it for a beautiful refined V6 sound but still sings when you're getting on it.

Check the heater pipes above the fuel tank for leaks around the mounts. A 97 should have the revised pipe but the gurgling at shutdown is cause there's air in the system and those pipes are a very common failure point. Esp the white one with pre revision pipes.

Hey Rex, maybe try and add some exhaust tips to reduce the droning. I reckon its caused by exhaust gases flowing into the inside of the rear bumper.

Did you bleed the coolant system properly!? . I thought you change the thermostat water pump also. Just a tip raise the bleed point by jacking the vehicle too remove air bubbles, mr2 need to be bleed properly in the coolant system. , buy the air /coolant bleed kit , it sucks the air out makes a vacuum in the coolant system , there are videos on KZbin about it

Damn I wish I had an open bit of solid ground to do donuts in at a secluded place. Looked so sweet. I have a forest on my doorstep with similar, albeit smaller, parking lots but it's either all dirt or all stone chips (which is not a good idea for your paintwork). The roads on that mountain you were driving on looked sweet as hell too. Once again the forest is the closest thing for me, but you get deer jumping out making it very risky.

papa jho you know you don’t turbocharge the car, you turbocharge the engine. Some engines respond better to turbocharging and some respond better to supercharging. 3sgte is good with turbo and so is k20 but the v6 prefers to be supercharged

@@skuastone9698 A turbo will always make more power psi for psi but its not about focusing on peak power, a supercharger has better driving dynamics since it produces more boost across the whole rpm range and it will always have the same amount of boost at a set rpm

Possible problem #1 You've got air in the lines. Fix: Start the car let it idle untill the thermostat opens and make sure to take the lid off on your over flow tank. 30 to 45 minutes idelling should be fine. Let the engine cool off over night. In the morning fill the reservoir untill mid point of the tank and you're all good. Possible problem #2 your over flow tank has a crack in it and once the coolant reaches temprature it and No longer holds pressure so it simply over flows through the crack hense the steam and spillage. Fix: you guessed it, new tank. Possible problem #3, you have line/s either not clamped properly or need of replacing due to a crack. Also make sure none of the lines are fouling and rubbing to sharp parts of the engine bay due to movement when driving. Secure all coolant lines to eliminate fouling. Awsome channel, enjoying your courageous engine swap. Hope it all works out, and can hardly wait for the upgrades. Ps: you spoke of crappy handling over bumps when going hard around corners. But I thought you had coil over springs installed on this thing not long ago?

Crappy handling can probably be attributed to bumpsteer which can get pretty annoying. I'm only lowered 1" or about 25mm but the bumpsteer is ridiculous.
