Awesome top 10 but you've left off the main reason why a lot of us SW20 owners love the car: Handling!. This thing handles like a go-kart! It's just so much fun to drive. I have just as much fun in my 1992 2.0 n/a as I do in my 1990 1MZ-FE. It's all about the handling for me :)

In the US, the pricing can be a bit worse depending on the state you're in. A good Turbo will set you back almost 10K nowadays, but NAs are still pretty cheap.

They are such amazing cars, sadly I lost my sw20 due to a crash a few years ago, mainly my own fault, young dumb and loved the accelerator peddle. If I ever get another one needless to say I will treat it with the respect it deserves. I paid £1500 for my 1991 with 76k miles on it. For one like that here in the uk now you'll be paying upwards of £2500 for a non turbo and close to 5k for a turbo mostly stock.

Yeah... Prices on these are steadily climbing. Here in Canada you won't find a decent turbo model for anything less than $10k, about 5-8 years ago you could have one for roughly $6k. I managed to get a good deal on a 1991 that was rough around the edges but has a 4th gen 3sgte. I've never driven a stock mk2 but I can say that with a 4th gen swap, these cars are really, REALLY quick. Enough to keep up with most modern "performance" cars.

You only need 1 reason - they are epic. I miss my '98 Anniversary edition that I sold 20 years ago. They look 100mph stood still, thy handle like nothing else I've driven (and the list is long - a real Mini is the closest). The turbo is out of this world. Then you get the guys in the US that drop v6s with superchergers into them.....Wish they did that 20odd years ago!

Mr2 and the Supra are my favorite cars ever, still love my Mr2 after 15 years of ownership it still gets heads turned it's red, a turbo and a tbar with a border kit on and a great deal on money under the hood, the only thing that gets on my tits about owning one is kids wanting to race me at the lights......

There is a 90 Toyota MR2 listed close to me for 3000 USD and it has a Camry engine and transmission, I really want to buy it but I can't. Idk what are the prices outside of Iraq but I think 3k is cheap af, these types of cars are underrated in Iraq because most ppl go towards American muscles and German cars.

Most likely due to inexperienced mechanics or diy-ers not knowing how to properly bleed the VERY large coolant system. Air pockets in the line will kill anything you put in, if they're not bled out completely.

Fieros yes, mr2 no. Mr2 has tons of functional vents to the engine bay. Even the trunk/hood lid is made for cooling. Air circulates over the hood openings to cool the engine.

Only difference with the ge and gte are the pistons and thus their compression ratios. At least with the older gen 2 that is true. Maybe a stronger head gasket on the turbo.

I didn't had the choice in my country the na mr2 are very rare and turbo's are non existent, we have very tight and very expensive taxes for imported cars, so given the choice I would go with the turbo
