Reykholtsskógur úr lofti - Reykholt forest from above

Reykholt forest is located in Borgarfjordur. Reykholt is one of the most historic place in Iceland. For a long time there was a forest around Reykholt, but like so many other places in Iceland, the forest had disappeared by the turn of the twentieth century. The forest today dates back to planting in the 1940s and thereafter.

Reykholtsskógur er í Borgarfirði. Reykholt er einn af sögufrægustu stöðum Íslands. Í langan tíma voru skógar í í kringum Reykholt en eins og svo víða á Íslandi voru þeir horfnir þegar leið á tuttugustu öldina. Skógurinn sem við sjáum núna má rekja til gróðursetningar á fjórða áratugnum og eftir það.
