reynard the fox story was from panchtantra book from ancient india. this story is found in iran,egypt, south east asia too. panchtantra is a collection of animal stories.

Great interview, though the anti-Catholic sentiments are distasteful and shortsighted. You wouldn't have Reynard without Christianity. He exemplifies the typical medieval spirit which is acutely aware of the pervasiveness of sin (especially in the hierarchy of the Church), hence his popularity amongst medievals, who were distinctly Catholic.
