Go to a junkyard and grab all the extra window/regulator parts you can. You can't that stuff anymore and it breaks all the time. Also grab the moldings on the outside of the windows.
@chaoslord89182 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean. My driver's window is all messed up, but it's not the regulator (which you can still buy new), but other hardware between the door and window. That door has a lot of other issues too, so I ended up just buying a whole other car just for the doors... and seats, fenders, hood, front bumper, etc...
@user-Dr.3 ай бұрын
I have a 93 I bought new and a 95 I bought about 5 years ago, and I have never had a problem with any of the window hardware, except I did have to upgrade the moldings, the upgrade doesn't have any metal in them, changed them about 25 years ago they're still like new.

The cracked dash pad, broken center console lid, and torn-up seats are standard features on these 4th gens. That's actually a little rip by comparison, and if the little levers on the back are on the outside (closer to the doors than the center console), then they probly haven't been switched. I understand why you'd think they've been switched, cuz it's usually the driver's side bolster that gets torn up first. Idk how that seat got ripped like that. Shouldn't cost too much at an upholstery shop tho (and that red and black interior looks pretty awesome). Just be thankful you don't have any problems with the door windows.

Looks like that car wants to nickel and dime you to death. Still, be thankful it's all minor stuff, though there is quite a bit to be addressed. I just picked up a '97 Z28 convertible with 48,000 miles, automatic and a leather interior. It needs a few minor things but overall it's in good shape. I just had the A/C charged and the temp gauge fixed along with a temp sensor on the radiator replaced. I need a passenger mirror because it's broken internally. I'd also like to have both bumper covers re-painted because of scratches and stone chips. This is the fastest car I've had since my '70 Nova SS with the L78 396. Of course, the Z28 handles much better than the Nova. Good luck with yours, these 4th gen Z28s are great road cars.

How’s it going? Don’t have a car yet and I’m probably out of my mind for considering these 4th gens as a first car and a daily, wonder how it’s going for you
@YogurtSnipe Жыл бұрын
@@zod548Well sorry for replying 10 months later but actually not that bad. There’s practically nothing too wrong mechanically with my vehicle. The windows go up and down slow, but some WD-40 on the sides fixes that. My door locks on both sides didn’t work and the driver side interior door panel was a hacksaw job. Nabbed some parts from a blue 95 Z28 and fixed the handle panel and got a new door bezel control panel for dirt cheap. Took the mess apart and got access to look inside the door, someone cut into the doorframe but nothing too big. Decided to take the whole door panel off and my father took out the door lock bar to see why it wouldn’t lock. I reinstalled it and for some reason it started to work so I didn’t need to replace my door lock. The other side has the same issue, I’m sure what happened is that the end of the bar where the door lock bar snaps into the hole can sometimes pop out if you hit a bump hard enough. Got that fixed, fixed the time on the radio, and fixed the A/C bolt that was missing by stealing one off a wrecked 95 Z28. Put the door panel back on which is a nightmare, they’re little lift and drop plastic scoops. So it’s a two person job especially if one’s broke. Recommend going from the left to right when installing the whole door cover. And as of right now that’s it, currently need to get the A/C recharged if it’s even possible and put JB weld into a screw hole that someone drilled out too big and drill the new weld into the correct bolt size. Then put the door handle panel back on and have my driver side fixed. Oh yeah they also disconnected the driver side panel control lights for some reason too. So gotta figure out where that plugs into too. And that’s about it, still some things I wanna investigate my brakes they need some touch up, and my shifter. The whole car’s weight moves kinda weirdly when I change gears, my dad says it’s fine but I wanna be safe. But yeah as far as a daily driver nope. It ain’t no daily driver, it’s a historical car, but a good start to getting into working on old cars. My dad says as far as cameros go it’s the most modern one. Newer ones are kinda retro looking.
