Might want to make a correction about the spear's charge attack, it's actually a really good one. You can mash attack to get lots of hits in, really good move against enemies after an attack with a huge opening. EDIT: fists doesn't strictly require an enemy to be downed or launched for a grab. In fact, you could punch once and mash grab to initiate it. Enemies have this short stagger animation window when attacked, which is the the flinch you mentioned and it can be easily abused, though mostly for mob killing iirc.

Thanks so much for letting me know about these! Clearly I'm definitely not an expert on every weapon (Longsword mains...) but yeah, that Spear charge attack seems very nice early game (though lategame outclassed by Millionstrike/Straight Punch), and high Stun gloves seem very reliable. Next video will be about crafting weapons, so I'll talk about these two things (and anything else you care to mention!) in the next one, and credit you for letting me know!

@@dreamingsuntide1 Spear attack can go for a good 3-5 or more seconds if you mash it quickly enough, which means statuses and can stagger huge groups of enemies. The final hit LAUNCHES them, they can become airborne and vulnerable. It is amazing, I second Ankoku's view. Obviously you dont want to do this against enemies you clearly cant stagger, because you will die. XD

Also, I can say after testing it myself that Earth element significantly increases Stun duration. To test it I made two identical Broadswords with Stun +100%, upgraded them with Scrap Metal+ so they dealt 1 damage and made one of them Earth element while the other had no element. I then used each one to stun Pomme Pommes and the Earth element one made the Stun duration at least twice as long.

People are sleeping on axes and hammers super hard. I'm having a lot of success using this weapon class in Sharance Maze. In addition to their relatively high ATK, the potency of axe/hammer attacks are naturally higher to compensate for their slow attack speed. Furthermore, the second hit of the axe/hammer combo is a frontal cleave that hits in about a 270° arc (180° in front plus around 90° covering your character's right flank). The hitbox for this attack also seems to extend slightly past the tip of the weapon. The cherry on top is that this attack can also be instantly dash cancelled as soon as the damage comes out. Did you know that the Bat and Iron Bat hammers have a different moveset? Instead of doing the regular two-hit combo, these two weapons skip the first hit and go straight into the second hit of the hammer combo. This also means that the hammer finisher can be executed after a single attack. I'm running a build using a Splash Star with the appearance of an Iron Bat (and a double folded Glitta Augite) that lets me clear entire rooms with a single button press and the best part is that I didn't even need to use a Light Ore to forge it! The final point I want to make about axes/hammers is that their high ATK makes them very effective at cheesing enemies with Straight Punch. Being able to one-shot bosses with damage cap Straight Punches means you can save time when farming bosses by skipping the enrage animation that makes bosses temporarily invulnerable!

One thing I’ve had a lot of fun with is wearing Sneaking Boots, walking up behind an enemy, clapping them with Neko Damashi and using the stun opening to get off a safe Straight Punch. Even without Neko Damashi I’ve been using Gloves with 100% Stun and it’s been great. So many opportunities to grab and throw enemies.

Funny Notice: Glove's Throwing attacks deal Love Damage.
@mauricesteel49953 жыл бұрын
Don't know if he mentioned, but you can add rune skills, charge attacks and dash attacks in the middle of the normal attack sequence and continue the combo until the finisher. For Example, on Longsword you can: Attack 1, Attack 2, Attack 3, Dash Cancel,Dash attack, Ultimate. or you can even add a rune skill in the middle. Attack 1, Attack 2,Wind Slash, Attack 3, Dash Cancel,Dash attack, Ultimate. heck, you can go Attack 1, Attack 2,Attack3, Dash Cancel attack,Wind Slash, Ultimate. or even Attack 1, Attack 2,Attack3, Dash Cancel attack, Charge attack(hold during Dash attack animation),Wind Slash, Ultimate. If you use more than 1 Dash attack or more than 1 Rune skill on a single streak the combo breaks and you have to start again.

You can Link Rune Skills into Charge attacks and continue the normal attack, but dont try to Link Rune Skills into Dash attacks.

You forgot to mention that Love element also has a life drain effect on it, so it does have combat uses outside of being resisted by few.
@dreamingsuntide13 жыл бұрын
Yes and no; the drain isn't intrinsic to the Love element itself, but rather it's an upgrade effect of the Love Crystal (which also gives Love Element). That does make Love Element slightly better in practice, but it's not related to the Element itself - just the main way you actually get it.
@theicycharmander33243 жыл бұрын
@@dreamingsuntide1 Oh yeah, I just looked at it and it's an upgrade effect, probably made me think otherwise since the other elemental crystals only affect stats. Also, something that would be worth mentioning is that in the early game before you can access leon karnek weapons with higher attack speeds are better for inflicting status due to having more chances to apply the effect from attacking more frequently. (of course this doesn't matter much since the guide is for all forging mechanics but it's worth noting)

I know this comment is very late but How do the Atack abilitys from Accessoires work? Like platinum ring gives FireWaterEarthWindLightDark Atack
@rainbow-chan6468 Жыл бұрын
Platinum Ring gives stats, not an inheritable effect. To make use of those stats the Platinum Ring would need to be your final accessory. Only effects are inheritable. As a rule of thumb, stats are like what you find on Platinum Ring, Diamond Brooch or Lucky Strike (“Dark Res +25%”, “100% Psn Res”, “Crit +100%”, etc) while effects are generally mentioned in the item description like with Annette’s Necklace and Art of Magic (“With wearing this necklace, you can move faster”, “Halves non-elemental attacks by way of magic walls”, etc). Some have both stats and effects like Art of Magic (grants +50 INT while equipped and halves non-elemental damage) but when inherited the new accessory only gains the effect (damage reduction), not the stats (+50 INT). Hope this helped.

@@MYS_JS Replying extremely late but if you’re still curious the Platinum Ring gives resistance to those elements, not attack. You’ll get those resistances if it’s your last accessory because they are stats but it won’t affect how your attacks work.

Hi please could you do a video on plant swords? I was trying to change the appearance of my rune staff plant sword but it lost its abilities and became something that according to Barrett looks like a mages staff but has stats of a plant sword. Help please, it's frustrating having 3 different weapons that all look the same. Is there a solution or do I just have to keep checking the stats? Thanks in advance. I'm still watching all your rf4s videos on loop,, learning every time
@dreamingsuntide13 жыл бұрын
Haha, I could maybe do a video on it later, but to be honest it's a bit straightforward I don't think there's much interesting I can say! Basically, Plant Sword (and shield) have base stats - those are the stats you get when you use a Plant Sword to craft something else, and that should be the stats of your mage's staff right now. The reason Plant Swords might "start" with weird stats is that, basically, the game randomly rolls "crafting" properties of the Plant Sword when it's pulled, and this includes using another item's "base stats". What probably ended up happening was that your Plant Sword picked to have the "base stats" of a Rune Staff. This is basically like if you used a Rune Staff (and Light Ore) when creating a Broadsword - that would make a Broadsword with the stats of a Rune Staff. In the same way, you had a Plant Sword with the stats of a Rune Staff. Now, if you use that Broadsword to craft anything else, that new item would only have the stats of a "normal" Broadsword, not the Rune Staff whose stats it copied. In the same way, if you use a Plant Sword to craft anything else, you'll just copy the stats of the Plant Sword, not whatever it had the stats of. ... bottom line, unfortunately yeah. There's no way you can put your Plant Sword stats on another weapon, so you'll have to keep checking the stats...

Is it possible to have the bonus effect from an element without dealing elemental damage? Say I want wind's increased attack speed but don't want to deal with resistances/immunity.
@dreamingsuntide13 жыл бұрын
As far as I know, they're directly related with one poooosible exception, and that's that two Dual Blades are dual element (Force Divide is Fire + Water, and Desert Wind is Earth + Wind), and no one's quite sure how these dual elements interact with either system. Wind in particular though is in general a really great element for both effect + weaknesses/resistances though, so good idea to roll with it in general.
