Mere hours after this video posted I figured out how to do the build for even cheaper. Check for my short update video! By the way, I got the vice from a yard sale for $5. Keep an eye out and you will find one if you don't have it, or you can probably squeeze some 2x4s together with a couple of lag bolts from the Home Depot. I REALLY hope this helps save a lot of people a LOT of money! ♥ ALSO, if you don't want to use the stock kingpin for any reason, you can buy an M16 bolt instead. It has the exact same thread pitch and will fit perfectly. The length will depend on you, just make sure to get a high grade so it will not break.

This guy is the best crazy cart mod youtuber right now. Question: Since the wide casters are less forgiving and the roller blade wheels aren't very stable, would it be best to get a wheel with a width of about 1.5 inches instead of 2? Maybe for a cart that goes 15-17mph? Would you get best of both worlds by going in between?

@@JMilky7 that's very kind of you to say. I'm just trying to do my best to fill an informational space that felt pretty empty. In all honesty, I am now in love with these wide wheels. You want to keep in mind that the wider they are, the more surface area there is to spread weight and absorb impact. That also equals a longer life (given the same materials of course) I think it would take a lot of testing to understand the relationship between wheel width, how Rounded the corners of the wheels are, and the dynamics of a wheels behavior under lateral load. I don't intend to go through that 😆 In addition, I think part of what makes this an even better caster setup is that these wheels do not have an offset center, so they will wear more evenly as opposed to the wheels Taxi Garage use.

This is exactly what i did with the casters i made. Completely different method then this but i used a smaller orangutan FATFREE wheel. This wheel combo on a xl made it flick and hold grip like a standard. When i first did it, i used the large orangutan stimulas and the grip was amazing but holding the angle was hard to hold for an extended period of time

I’d buy these from you. Have you considered selling them pre made?
@TheCrazyCartModChannel

@@hwin713 I absolutely have, but I checked with both FedEx and UPS and the shipping is around $20-$25 as far out as Maine (from Utah) I would of course have to upcharge a bit for my time and risk of holding inventory as well. Ordering 2 casters from Apollo is $15 shipping. Ordering 5 is $15 shipping, so the more I order the less shipping costs me up to a certain point, but I have no idea how many people would want these pre-made and be willing to pay the extra for them. At the very least I think I'd have to charge around $105 just to send them out without any gain on my side... What are your thoughts?

hey man i have a question ! for context, im running the same amazon 48v 1000w controller you use, on an XL with stock 36v 500W motor and 48v battery. at a full charge im at 54 volts and my gear ratio is 9t (stock upper) and (60t? stock VERSION 1 XL huge lower) i know this gear ratio isnt optimal for top speed, however im only getting around 12-13 mph top speed. what do you think could be the issue? controller? motor? I could use some input. thanks !
@TheCrazyCartModChannel
@TheCrazyCartModChannel 4 ай бұрын
@@vicstfu9133 Hi there. I mention in my upgrade explanation video that the 36v XL motor has the same native speed at 36v as the 24v motor at 24v. Thus at 48v, the 24v motor will be spinning at double the stock RPM, but the 36v XL motor would only be spinning 50% faster. You'd have to bump up your voltage to get more RPM. I imagine that's the issue. But that does still sound a bit slow even for that gear ratio... Did you measure your speed at 36v before you upgraded?
@vicstfu9133
@vicstfu9133 4 ай бұрын
@@TheCrazyCartModChannel hey I am aware of the 24v vs 36v differences but no i did not test, i bought the cart with a swollen stock battery and bought a 48v for it and the controller arrived same day so i just dropped everything in. the cart has solid torque and accels up to 12mph very fast but it kind of just sits at 12-13 mph and holds it there. I havent noticed a difference with wiring "Sport" switch together either. im waiting on a 45t and chain and an 11T upper which i assume will make a solid difference but I just feel like something isnt quite right with my top end and im wondering if I should start w the controller (i can still exchange on amazon) or if I should just get the 900w currie motor (24v) and upgraded gearing?
@TheCrazyCartModChannel
@TheCrazyCartModChannel 4 ай бұрын
@@vicstfu9133 I wish I had more experience with that motor, but the moment I realized how it worked I returned it. The 900w currie will require cutting into the bars, but not very much. There is an install video out there. I'm sure that will do a lot, but you may have enough torque with the 500 as well. I wish I could offer more insight but I just don't know quite what's going on. I feel like if you're getting quick acceleration then I don't it's the controller.

@@TheCrazyCartModChannel i understand, thank you for your help regardless ! Im on an XL cart, with the stock XL fork, do you know if I would i still have to cut? I figure the currie motor would be a bolt on solution with the extra clearance on the XL fork. im gonna start with gearing and maybe just exchange my controller to be safe since its still under warranty, from there ill try the 900w, thank you !
