RFI On Mobile Ham Radio, Ferrite Beads In The New Mobile Install, Icom 7100 And Fan Noise From AC!!

Newer vehicles cause a lot of unwanted RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) on your ham radio receive. Snap on ferrite beads can eliminate a lot of it, along with routing of your power wire, location of your base unit and even grounding.
I have never heard this kind of noise from an AC blower fan in a mobile. 2024 Nissan Frontier. I have a few more snap on ferrite beads to get rid of the rest of this noise, I'll post when i have it handled.

The ferritte's do help alot. I put them all over the place on the base station. Mic cords, power cords coax cable's.

Are using a noise filter on the battery to the supply voltage. I ran a qrp rig with a antenna. Tunner no issue. Used a ts 50 same setup no issue. Also used a noise Canceling speaker.

I have heard that switching to a shielded ethernet cable between the main unit and head can help alot as well.

Be careful running the negative to the battery. These newer vehicles have a BMS on them. Running anything to the negative bypasses the BMS.

They are pulsing voltage to the fan motor to control the fan speed.

I gave up trying to eliminate rfi in my 22sv. Tried ferrites binding hood doors bed ect ect. Now I just operate with truck off on an external bat
