Back in the 70s, i was a prolifer in the dem party. The thinking was that we needed prolifers in both parties and some politicians actually clung to their personal convictions. After 5 years i just couldn't take it anymore. I did go to conventions, worked on committees, etc. and the amount of vicious manipulations and backroom deals was more than i could take. The representative we sent to DC personally and publicly attacked me because i objected to the language in a plank proposal. Even in the republican party there is resistance, but at least there are a few who are like-minded.

Back in 1978 in California we passed Proposition 13, which stopped this kind of taxation on inflationary rise in real estate prices at the state level. I know it's hard to believe now but Ronald Reagan was governor of California for 8 years ending in 1975. Prop 13 was kind of the last hoorah of California conservatism

As a woman, I couldn't get an abortion. As an American, I don't agree with it as a form of birth control and I don't agree with it after the first trimester unless there's a literal threat to the mother, and everything is done to try and save the baby. I think a pregnancy as a result of rape is the woman's business, but should still have limitations on how late they can abort. Late term should never be legal under any circumstance, those babies should be matched with people looking to adopt.
