Thanks man. Everyone on the rg35xx subreddit whines when op asks how to do this and tells them to get garlic/sends them a garlic guide.. Every single post about flashing stock os is literally full of ppl saying “stock OS is shit. Only way to go is Garlic”. As a result, now with a rg35xx+ there’s no tutorial or how to online. Super frustrating and considering garlic 2.0 is a mess, I’m gonna wait for it. Stock OS for now & it looks fine to me as it is

It's now working. After doing this process, I copied all bios and everything from the original sd card to the new sd. And everything is looking good. Also the boot logo is working great

Nice, thank you for the tutorial. I had to figure it out myself for the rg35xx before this tutorial. Took me a while because I had know idea how to do it. I did the first method you showed in this video, but a 2 card setup. So I have 1gb software on a 64GB sd card 😂, and a 32GB sd card for games. I dont understand then the purpose of the Game Roms folder in the menu, it seems that they start with some poor standalone emulator i dont know, that made many games laggy. Ehhh, I just took the SD Card today, to do a backup on my computer. Just took the SD Card, used adapter, copied it to hard drive. Used FAT32 formatter to format new, better sd card, copied the files and... It won't power up. I put original SD card back, and it won't power up... Did I bricked my Anbernic?

No. You'll just have to watch this video and follow the instructions. You will need to redownload the original stock OS in the first method that doesn't have any games or bios files. Install it, then find the bios files and games online and add them. You can also find the original stock OS files from anbernic, but it's huge and takes forever to download and flash onto the SD.

Just a quick question: I just did the first method to a 128gb sd, and already extended the size of the roms partition to max. If I copy over ALL the stuff from the stock sd card, will that give me all the bios/retro arch, etc. over on the new sd card with no issues? edit: nvm, looks like you answered the same thing below. Quicker way to delete a bunch of partitions.... cmd.exe {Launch as Admin} diskpart select disk 2 { in your case, it says disk 2 in the gui. you can use 'list disk' to find the drive} clean exit Done. Then use your gui to create the partitions if you don't want to use the DOS commands for that :)

The tutorial is great, but your system message volume is so high compared to your voice that the messages when you're clicking are simply killing my ears. Maybe this is something to take a look at for future videos? I can barely hear you, so I have to turn the volume all the way up and then when you click all those confirmations, exits, etc., it's insanely loud!

Yes all you have to do is format the games sd card to fat32 and then insert into your device. Power it on and then power it off and it should create the folders for you. Then get on your pc and youll see a roms and save folder.

I don't understand why you said the ofw was crap.. it looked like a spand archive multi-part rar file. All you have to do is dl all parts into the same directory then use winrar. This is why the file parts were numbered. Besides that good vid.

Bios files are necessary to make certain systems work properly. Don't forget them!! They are very important.

There is no game or bios files. There is retroarch. All you have to do is copy them from your stock sd and paste them to your new one. So copy the bios folder and roms folder and you should be good to go. Hope this helps.

Pokemon Emerald decided to kill itself on me the other day with this setup. couldnt load save state or make new save or new states. I had a new SD card it was not stock. I was able to get some of the save files off of this but they are file extensions that I am not familiar with at all. Do you know which GBA emulator pokemon emerald would us on this by default?

No sure garlic 2.0 has the same installation instructions but assuming it's just like regular RG35XX you should be able to paste over stock

Thank you so much. Did step by step as shown and got my new anbernic started onto a new sd card. I have a few questions... 1. I downloaded some games in my 'external 128 GB' sd card but that's not working. I did the in-out thing and all copied the downloaded game into proper folder (Ps, GBA etc). Some games are working but stopping in between.

Not all the roms on the stock sd card are good. It's always a good idea to get your own games. It's really easy, too. There are channels out there that can help you find games easy

Also you have to make sure that your second card is formatted to FAT32 and that you put it insude you console first so it can make the folders for you and then you can put games in and it will work

Great explanation and thanks to whom who made it possible to have a stock OS image. My card had corrupted files and i've tried to restore without succes. Thanks to this tutorial i have restorde the SD card. I was lucky to have a backup of the original files. One small note, the desktop sound is way to loud compared to the explanation sound ;) Anyway, my RG35XX+ is back :)

In the roms partition you will find folders for all your systems. populate those folders. If you dont see a bios folder in rom root folder, just create one or insert that sd into you device power it on and off so it can create the folder for you. Then populate that bios folder as well. Highly recommend Tiny Best Set Go!.

Hello Javi, I'd extremely appreciate your help with an issue I've been encountering today - I ordered two days ago off Amazon my RG35XX Plus, it has arrived today and apparently after turning it on, it remain stuck on the ANBERNIC logo without going any further - I tried resetting it multiple times, charging it a little more making sure it was a 5V 1A charger to not burn it, turning it off and back on few times but nothing seem to be working. I thought it could be the SD card being corrupted/broken but I plugged into my pc and I could see all the files just fine (so I assume it's not broken?) - Do you know what could fix this issue? Or should I just return this model through Amazon refund policy and order a new one? And to copy what is on their SD card into a better new one, is it just enough to copy all the folders in the SDcard that comes out of the RG35XX plus into a new formatted SD card or do I have to go through all the steps I've seen in this video? I'm sorry for the noob questions but I'm kind of new to these procedures, trying my best here. Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

This is a problem with the crappy SD cards that the new units ship with, not with the unit itself. You'll need a brand new SD card with the stock image or with the improved image (but that link is down). Follow his steps to create a new one after buying a more reliable SD card.

Im trying to install the stock os with the games, i succesfully installed it but i just cant install the roms, ive tried everything, including the hide partitions method you showed and nothing. This is driving me crazy, i dont have the plus version though.

This tutorial is only for RG35XX Plus. This firmware will only work on RG35XX plus not rg35xx. I would suggest you get the correct firmware from www.rg35xx.com/en/firmwares-2/anbernic-stock/ Any of the first 4 should be good and flash that. After that, all you have to do is add the games to the correct folders. For gameboy Roms/GB put your gameboy games here.

I ran into an issue when I tried to resize ROMS Partition and it gave me an error. I had to format the partition so I could resize it. But my device doesn’t boot when I turn it on. Nothing happens and there is no power light on at all. I tried it again without touching anything, just flashed a new sd card and it works fine. I don’t know if I should try different way to resize the partition or I missed something. Please help

Always make sure to close out of the file explorer when resizing the roms partition. If you have the partition open you can run into issues. All you have to do it try again. Reformat it to Fat32. Reflash the modified image. Then attempt to resize the rom partition again making sure to have file explorer closed. Hope this helps. Let me know.

Okay, I followed your method 1 and when I put the sd card in my rg35, the os boots up. The issue I have is when I put the card in my computer, only the roms/saves folder is detected. And I’m unable to add my games because the card is only read as a 256mb card. (I’m using a 64gb card) 🤔

You have to expand the roms partition using mini tool partition wizard. Right-click the roms partition and use move/resize
