I build flags myself and have to say yours is the first I have seen with the LEDs. Cool idea. Not sure i have the patience for all the extra lighting steps LOL. Nevertheless, great video of you just explaining the process without any annoying music in the background. Props my friend!

You don’t like the music? I’ve been trying different things on my other videos to fill the dead air in. So that’s good feedback. Perhaps I will do more videos like this one.

@@dissectingdiy Oh i didnt know you had music in your other videos, this was the first video that I have watched of yours. Dont get me wrong, I DJ so love music but i find for me personally to have to adjust the volume because the music is generally louder or softer then the person speaking can get cumbersome. Not to mention if you dont enjoy the type of music playing can prompt a viewer/listener to immediately stop the video. I post mixes on my site so im sure i have people that do that all the time if they dont like what i mix. I just like the instructional tutorial with maybe a fast forward where you have to sand or do something lengthy. Or even if you just editted the lengthy part out i would be ok with as well. Call me old school. Nevertheless, great video and tutorial my friend!

Loved the video; it was very informative and helpful. In the video you mentioned using a way to calculate how much epoxy is needed for a pour. Can you post a link to that calculator? Thanks very much.

looks awesome, Would it be possible to put the led strip inside the first clear coat of epoxy before you did the white layer?

I thought of doing this myself but was reading the led could burn out and have a significantly shortened lifespan With the epoxy trapping most of the heat.

Depends on what you mean by getting into. Are you just starting out woodworking and have no tools? Never worked with epoxy? RGB? Here are some tips I can give based on all three. If you’re looking to makes flags. You’re going to have two types of customers. Those who insist on hand carved stars and those who don’t mind. For this you will need the Dremel tool with pen attachment. Or some patience with a chisel. For making flags get a good table saw. And some grippers. This will help in making uniform rip cuts. Chop saw/miter saw. I like the ones that can make longer cuts. They’re adjustable. Note: You should always pull the saw out and cut inward as they tend to shoot out if they catch. I almost lost a thumb that way. When not using the slide feature. I check the lock out of habit every time. Orbital Sander. With lots of different grits Tack clothes. Get them and use them as much as possible. A good shop vac with filter and a bag are fantastic at controlling saw dust and keeping dust down during clean up. Epoxy: You will often have to build and make a water tight mold. This can be done with Tyvek tape and silicone tub and bath non paintable. Epoxy can be pretty forgiving. When making colors do a few test batches. When using back lit test light distribution through different thicknesses/concentrations of your test batch. Get the mixing cups. They have them up to 64 oz maybe larger. There are different types of epoxies. They yellow under UV light. You can get products that don’t yellow as much. There is a regular type of epoxy. You can pour up to 1/4 inch. And take a few hours to 24 hours to completely harden. Deep pour epoxies take about 3 days but can go up to 2 inches in one pour. Make sure to seal with a quick setting epoxy. If you don’t. You get bubbles in the finish and it’s frustrating. Running a torch quickly over an epoxy pour will pop bubbles. Be quick and don’t leave it in one spot too long. Don’t hit epoxy with the flame. Epoxy gets hot! It’s part of the curing process. RGB lighting have tons of kits. Look for kits that don’t require a line of sight RF receiver. But something like Bluetooth. This will allow you to imbed the device in the project and hide it. Rewiring will require some skill around a soldering iron.

Hello, sorry I didn’t reply sooner. As of right now I don’t know when I could find the time to make another one. If I was I have not worked out a price as of yet. I had a lot of trial and error with this one and epoxy is expensive. Based on costs with epoxy and material I was sitting around 500 dollars in expense. This was due to having to get 3 rounds of epoxy. I think I could get this down to about 200.
