Thought I would re-visit this to pass some lockdown time! Great to see it as it was when we were volunteering on the Bar Car. And I loved that tender on Typhoon! Thanks for the memories Derek.

"Great Little Railways of the World". I wore out my library's copy when I was a kid, and later was able to get a used copy at a train show. It had a great deal of influence on my love of live steam.

Nice mini documentary. I wish we had something like this in Canada which was still a British colony until 1967.

Locomotive no. 10 Dr. Syn kinda looks like an American steam locomotive.

As Kent used to have working coal fields, I wonder if they supplied coal to the RHDR, assuming it was of good steaming properties!
@DerekSmith1949 Жыл бұрын
Yes, the railway did use Kent coal at one time. It was very dusty and smoked quite a bit.

I would build 2 locos to run on this line
@arch9enius6 жыл бұрын
Thing is , they would need to be reliable and pull 12 bogies. Which rules out building a sort of rail -dragster with a pre-WWII aero engine...

Would be nice in this modern day to see the track replaced with contuses rail

Did those factory units ever get built?
@DerekSmith19496 жыл бұрын
arch9enius Certainly not up to now, but I believe the site is being built on for a new Aldi superstore.
@arch9enius6 жыл бұрын
Well that could be built on a platform over the old trackbed. eh well.

A great little locomotive. Pity the tracks are a disgrace and should be re-laid for a comfortable ride (9:15).
