If I'm not mistaken, Ed was in his eighty's when this was performed. His breath control is still amazing and his voice is even better than before. How many performers do you know who sound better at eighty than at 20?

I used to see him as Mingo on Daniel Boone reruns as a kid. From commercials, I knew he was part of a quartet with his brothers during the 50's. Only now, on a whim, I decided to listen to him in a couple of KZbin vid and words can't describe how amazing I find him as a singer! Truly extraordinary!

I have loved this song since I heard it as a child, probably on Ed Sullivan Show. Of course, the Daniel Boone show was a weekly favorite and we loved Mingo. Mr. Ames, your voice is a treasure and this video proves that it has improved over the years. That is a rare gift and am so happy to have found this video. Thank you for being an elegant, intelligent, and caring man. I doubt we will see anyone come close to your equal in the future. Thank you for blessing us with your voice that still gives me goosebumps!

"In this moment with sunlight above..." It has been most of a lifetime since we were young and the world was bright. Back then, cancer separated us in this life, but not in the next. Although I am now grayed, bent, and limping, my cup still runs over with love. We were not allowed to grow old together, but we will share eternity together. I will always love you.

my older sister and 2 neighborhood girls played this 45 all the time. I heard it so much I could sing it word for word at age 10. I didn't appreciate the lyrics then but now, having felt the power of being in love in my own life, this could very well be the best, most powerful love song ever written. And no one can sing it like Ed Ames.

During the Viet Nam war, I met my 1st husband. We heard this song playing on Ft. Sam Houston,Texas. It became our song. The next day was his birthday and he asked me to marry him. 9 months later he returned and we were married. In the dining room he asked the pianist to play our song. 2 days later he left me for Viet Nam. Less than 2 months later he was returned to Ft. Sam Houston's famous Burn Ward in Critical Condition. Jesus called him home less than 3 weeks later. For Christmas I gave him a pair of blue baby booties and our record. I still have Ed Ames ' record. I don't have my husband or our son. Ed's voice was so magical.

An absolutely beautiful song perfectly done! I had this on 45 and now decades later have it on my I-Pod. Thank goodness we can still listen to wonderful songs such as this one! The songs and entertainers now can't compare - they are churned out accordingly to how they look and not necessarily major talents in their own right.

Hello Mountain Poet Thank you for sharing this very beautiful song. But we cannot call it an "old song", because songs and singers like in this presentation are immortal, eternal and that is why they are always current. Olá Mountain Poet Obrigado por ter compartilhado essa muito linda canção. Mas não podemos chamar de "velha canção", porque canções e cantores como nessa apresentação são imortais, eternos e por isso são sempre atuais.

When I was in my mid-teens listening to this song on the radio back in the 60s I appreciated it for the beautiful song that it was. Now, married to my wife for 38 years and more quickly approaching those autumn days than I would like, I can say how meaningful it can become to those who have grown thru life, raising kids, and being alone together again. It's the little things, guys, that we all remember in the end.
