I love the old strongest formation... LUCA TURILLI, ALEX STAROPOLLI, FABIO LIONE, ALESSANDRO LOTTAA. (or with Dominique Leurquin). Now it´s divided in two. RHAPSODY OF FIRE With Staropolli and new members and Turilli-Lione Rhapsody. Both Luca Turilli and Alex Staropolli owns the rights for the name RHAPSODY, so when Luca left he started another project called Luca´s Turili Rhapsody, and the first album was AMAZING but the second not that much.. Then Fabio Lione was out and joined to do a new album using their last names with the Rhapsody name. You still must do another Battle of the bands- Helloween vs Rhapsody cover.. (Guardians). I recorded a Holy Thundeforce Rehersal.. Many many years ago when they did many of their presentations on Mexico. I´m going to upload the video to my youtube channel. My numer one song from RHAPSODY is Dargo Shadowlord from the Black Mountain (short)

@@MetalAcademix AFAIK there was no copyright battle between Luca and Alex, but an agreement to share the name. The copyright battle came years before, when they changed from Rhapsody to Rhapsody of Fire.

Magic of the Wizards Dream features Sir Christopher Lee as the Wizard (of course! Baritoooonnnee!) by these guys. He's done a few songs with Rhapsody and was great friends with everyone in the band. Frozen Tears Of Angels is a classic album and the title track rules! You can't go wrong with these guys. 🤘🤘

28:20 Heck that's some amazing ear. Because precisely the keyboardist is the only one left from the original formation. It certainly sounds different than the old Rhapsody but it still sounds like Rhapsody, so I think Staropoli deserves some recognition for being able to keep part of the band's brand sound even without elements so characteristics like the voices.

I am one of those people who like the epic songs the most but each to his own and fair play to you. Alex is the only original member of the new Rhaposody of Fire, whereas every single one of the Turilli/Lione lineup are decades long members. Also, the new singer with Alex came from Italian Idol.

Turilli/Lione Rhapsody is basically the full old Rhapsody lineup, minus Alex Staropoli. Their first album is much more symphonic/progressive than power metal, also with some electronic elements. I would reccomend trying Zero Gravity, DNA, Fast Radio Burst, or Arcanum. PS: In that wacken reccording of Reign of Terror you can clearly hear the 2nd guitar (Tom Hess, the bald guy, left track of the audio) screwing up the solo SO BAD. Other parts too, but in the solo is super clear. He was in the band just for a few years, and he was clearly not up to the task.

Before go with my commentary, now you did 3 of the Big 4 of Power Metal (Helloween, Stratovarius, Rhapsody) you must to do Blind Guardian: Bard song + Valhalla, Imagination from the other side, Twilight of the gods, (I will paste link after). Talking about Rhapsody, what I can say about one of my favorites band, the one I star like more Italian language (Lamento eroico) until learn to speak Italian, they are the inspiration for more band (2 already you review it) on the future, I have lucky to see it in all formation, Turilli/Staropoli, Staropoli only, and for the Rhapsody Farewell with Turilli and Lione, they are the number one on Medieval Symphonic Power Metal. About the new Era with Only Alex Staropoli, for me is a god band playing songs of Rhapsody, I like the new singer I have it the pleasure to talk with him and was in Italian, we talk about who he feal on the band and how hard is to be the replacement of Fabio Lione, he say was a big challenge and replace Lione is impossible, Lione is the voice of the metal in Italy, and the end I say to him you are doing an amazing job. After I attend to Farewell Tour and amazing show, and see the new Formation of Turilli/Lione last year, they are playing new song much more on the progressivity and experimental metal. So for have the context how the band evolve with the all changes 1993 made Demo with the first Singer 1995 Lione Join 1997 The re use some demo song resign by Lione for his first Album (Rage of the winter was Invernal Fury ) 1997-2004 Albums with name Rhapsody, for a Copyright Trademark issues they change the name (I think was was suit by a company call rhapsody a music player) 1999 Turilli Release his solo side project like 2005 ~ until now Rhapsody of Fire Aug 2011 Turilli Leave the band on mutual agreement with Alex, he want to improve his other side with his side project, so he found Luca Turilli's Rhapsody, like everything is repeat the rhapsody on the names is more like a last name for have more commercial punch. Fred you are a metal machine! Rhapsody was a popular music player around the same time as Napster, so that totally makes sense. Thanks for catching up people here on the history of the band...it's definitely all over the place. The last song on here, Rain of Fury is from the excellent The Eighth Mountain album from 2019. Interesting enough this form of Rhapsody, the only original member is keyboardist Alex Staropoli. Further, Luca and Fabio released their own album under Turilli & Lione Rhapsody in 2019, called Zero Gravity.

I dont know if you have listened "gargoyles angels of darkness" of Rhapsody as well. For me is the best epic symphonic power metal song I have ever listened. Is the final chapter of the Emeral Sword saga and it seems a theather representation mixed with an opera. Althoug my favourite song of Rhapsody is "Queen of the dark horizons". I like metal music, I like clasical and orchestal music and is ovious I like Rhapsody. Sorry for my bad English. It is not my own language but I am trying improve it with classes.

Friends I came from the Galneryus video, and I heard them talking about baby metal and how metal has not come from Japan to the United States. Personally I have listened to that band but it seems to me more an experiment than a band, you should listen to MAID BAND. I love your videos and keep up the good work.

I like Rhapsody, especially from beginning until the Power of the Dragonflame. Emerald saga is quite good. (Except videos, which are a little far off of what I've imagined when I listened a melody and later notice that they released an official video) After the break, the first couple of years was quite difficult to figure out what the heck had been happened to Rhapsody. This new vocals has a good register and it sounds very good. Fabio Lione is a good frontman. Not everybody can perform songs as "Reign of terror" or "When demons awake" as he does. Also it is noticeable his influence on Derdian band. Also, the video of Rain of fury is well-performed... even when there's no a single drop of water in the whole video :) I've always have the idea that "unholy warcry" is sounds similar to a Batman intro. I would have liked you have analized "Rain of a thousand flames". Not just melody, also the video. Regards.

I feel the same...I like Rhapsody but I'm not a fan of everything they've done. Some of it just has too much cheese 🧀 Never seen them live, but I did get to see Fabio sing with Kamelot, after Roy Khan had left Kamelot and before Tommy Karevik joined the band.

As someone who really enjoys Rhapsody Of Fire. I understand why it can be difficult for someone to like the band Most of their music’s storytelling is... well telling a story. If you are listening to a song from the DragonFlame album, you are at the end of The Emerald Sword Saga. However, I have been a huge Rhapsody fan for a few years now, and I will say, I don’t mind all the changes that the band has been doing. Not every band is perfect. I honestly love some of their slower songs, like The Magic of the Wizards Dream. But understandably not everyone will enjoy that kind of music.

I listened again and again to Rain of Fury, as the melody grew on me. Then I listened to the whole album, also very good, including the new vocal leader. So definitely the Rhapsody story goes on! @@MetalAcademix Rhapsody of Fire decided to re-record (remake) with Giacomo Voli mostly all their Best Hits/songs of their previous albums with Fabio Lione, a compendium called Legendary Years 2017, were they featured Giacomo Voli for the first time as their main singer, before recording their very first brand new album with him, The Eight Mountain. He proved to be fully capable of singing, reaching high notes, transitions, and every vocal technique that Fabio implemented, the only difference being that, obviously, his voice color/tone is different (as any person), but still melodic enough to fit the requirements of the band (and I would say more). I personally enjoy a bit more Giacomo Voli in Rhapsody, tho' music elitist from that genre will most likely disagree. The best way to appreciate this, is by listening to every song with Fabio Lione, and then coming back to this album: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6LXp5SwbNSbpK8 Fabio is the original and extraordinary, Giacomo did just as good in his own voice.

I'm quite a fan of this band, ever since they were still Rhapsody. Despite the issues plaguing the band, like bad management that set them back several years, and the eventual split with Luca (which I don't think was as amicable as they claimed, given that the original band has been reformed, but without the keyboardist, which I find very suspicious), and one album that was mediocre (Dark Wings of Steel), they're still going strong. I like the new singer, and I think that with time, they will regain (most of) their former glory. As for Luca Turilli, I'm more a fan of his old solo work, when he still had Olaf Hayer (and later added Bridget Fogel) on vocals. The first three albums were great, but IMO it went downhill after that. Also, personal favorites from each album: - Warrior of Ice - Symphony of Enchanted Lands - The Mighty Ride of the Firelord - Queen of the Dark Horizon - Gargoyles, Angels of Darkness - The Mystic Prophecy of the Demonknight - On the Way to Ainor - The Ancient Fires of Har-Kuun - Aeons of Raging Darkness - Sad Mystic Moon - Distant Sky - Rain of Fury

Fabio is definitely starting to show his age. Especially live. Did you see his Angra performance from Colombia in 2019? He was so bad. Giacomo is incredible and a worthy replacement. You should really listen to his performance on March Against the Tyrant

That show just had bad audio. Everything sounded sketchy not just Fabio. Fabio has actually aged better than most other singers imo and is usually amazing live.

no..the video is not great. i love rhapsody so much..but the video....uugh. the concept is great, i think....but to be able to create a great video for such a grand song...we need hollywood for that...lol.... the song is just too great for a low budget video clip.
