@@TheIcanntspel I know this comment was years ago but this is a good point, these guys jam a lot more than they get credit for. People make compilations of Zappa/Garcia/Phish jams so I'm sure either someone has or someone will make one for the Chilis. It's a good idea honestly, I think if these guys went full jam band route and reinvented their career around long improvisation they'd get tons (more) of crossover interest from the jazz, blues, funk, hippie and prog rock communities and probably sell more tickets/albums than any band ever. Or maybe not idk lol they're already doing pretty decent

I love how a majority of the background music is just improvised jams of the band from throughout the tour. These little instrumentals really are pretty fricken awesome and could be cool songs if they wanted to work on them. Aside from that however, how much of a beast are John and Flea when jamming together? They have a chemistry that rivals Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee when it comes to their friendship and spiritual connections coming through in their jams. Though we don’t get to see the improvisational side of Geddy and Alex that much, only the finished song that was a result of their improv jams. John and Flea have an ungodly live connection to just know where each other are going without any tethers and that’s just amazing!

I only finished Flea's book, now almost 2nd read of "Scar Tissue" being on the end in Californication area. That video confirms how united, happy and powerful band was after rebirth. RHCP almost gave up after "One Hot Minute" but John's return created probably best era for whole band history. I do love deep spiritual talks and meetings with different people in that documentary, truly there was wonderful vibes around peppers during tour (compare to some dark energy in previous ones) . Especially Anthony listening carefully to others after his long years of being often an asshole, egocentric dude. I wouldn't say he used to be a really bad person but his behaviours many times inflicted tons of pain to his family, girlfriends, John, Michael and many others. After making so many circles between rehabs/staying healthy/being productive bandmember and total drug junkie who get lost for days in Californication Era he truly stepped up as a person and better human being.

This behind-the-scenes footage came as a supplementary DVD along with the Greatest Hits album (2003), just a couple years after I started getting deep into the band. I was around 13 when I first saw this, and have watched it dozens of times, to the point I've got several parts memorized. This film informed my perception of the band members as individuals so much, and to this day, is largely how I see them (of course they've grown/matured, but I believe their fundamentals come through here in spades). There's few things that make me as nostalgic as (re-)watching this footage, man- I just wish time could've remained stuck back then. Forever my favourite band.

I was 18 in 1991 .. John's guitar work on BSSM taught me how to play a Stratocaster. I had finally got to that point of pulling chords and notes and general keys out of the air thru the Chilis & Primus' Larry LaLonde (Frizzle Fry then Seas of Cheese). This was my gen's shit. I saw Pearl Jam open for NIRVANA, open for the RHChilis on the BSSM tour New Years Eve at The Cow Palace in SF New Years Eve 1992. saw the Chilis with The Cramps at the BG Civic auditorium not long after. probably right before the plane ride to Japan that John quit on, turned around and came back to deal with the death of R Phoenix the only way he knew how. Pearl Jam wasn't my thing, but NIRVANA was one of the best examples of what was happening with the music biz. they were great, but destroyed every last drum, drum head, drum hardware, amps and amp cabs (later I read that there was a two fold reason. one - no encore. two - to get more $ out of the labels since it was a show expense, otherwise they were getting screwed financially. Foo Fighters made perfect sense to me because of that show. I love Johns work outside the Chilis. and they're still a great band. Josh is an amazing musician and kind soul. I just can't imagine being in a crowd like that to see them again.

All of them were so enlightened from the get-go, somehow. This level of discernment and knowledge of life is what I would have expected from their older versions after all their experiences. They seem already so god-damn blessed, each in their particular way, at such an early stage of life. Flea and Frusciante, damn, I lack the words to describe how baffled they make one feel. Also, how much all of them excel in passing forward knowledge that goes straight to a sacred place somewhere in whoever is paying attention to it, or just feeling it, whatever, I do not know. The heck. Just, thank you. Thank you.

John Arundell Why would you say that? John was successful while being in the band, he is successful now being alone and the band is also still successful.
@johnarundell79518 жыл бұрын
Nadine Brener The other Chili Peppers are still doing the same old thing in their 50s (way past their use by date as far as being relevant in any way goes) but John is long gone having made the wise move 9 years ago when he had nothing more to give them .. it wasn't announced for almost 2 years but he left immediately after the Stadium Arcadium world tour finished in 2007, and despite the hopeless pleas of fans who beg for him to go back he will never do that in a million years :)

It was better with Hillel Slovak.
@Oxboh Жыл бұрын
@@creamydistortionI hate when people do this shit. He was barely in the band, truthfully. Yes. He was a high school friend and founding member in 83. But left the band until 85. Slovak wasn’t even part of their debut album. And let’s not pretend “Freaky styley” and “TUMPP” were amazing albums. They were an underground band at this time.. having fun, experimenting, and playing for 500 people. The band truly excelled musically with the connection between flea and frusciante. Undeniable. The chili peppers sound for 30 years now was practically birthed from John’s guitar style. Saying you prefer slovak over frusciante is like saying you prefer a completely different band and sound.

Amazing Doco. Especially the spiritual interviews the last 20 minutes or so, great to hear the bands thoughts on these things, and everything I have previous commented on. Top off with Chads insane drums skills during Sir Phycho Sexy at the end there. 01:19:59 A band I've loved since my pre-teens and will always connect with in some way.

My mom always teases me, she knows I have a massive crush on Anthony Kiedis... I always tell her that she did too and she still does. I don't care if he's 52, I don't care if he's still cute or not, I don't care that he's rich and famous. All I care about is his personality and health and I pray that he will always be a good man no matter how much mistakes he made, I'm telling you I only care if that he's OK. I am a fan of the Chili Peppers, I love you guys more than anything in the world! Keep on doing what your doing. We love you guys and we know that you love us too.❤️✌️😘 -Kirsten the Chili fan❤️✌️

I love that Fleas daughter is in the bssm doc and in this one. No matter where Flea was in his career or life, his daughter was there to humble and ground him 🙏 The way she was saying 'baba, baba!!!' While he was talking to woody cracked me up. How cute ❤ John is so sweet here too, when hes trying to explain other realms or non tangeable energy or beings he gets shy.

Flea has obviously read a book called [The Ancient Secret of The Fountain of Youth] 19:10-19:44. He was practicing the 5 rites. They work if you do them regularly and consistently. You can slow down, stop and even reverse the effects of aging. Now I love Flea even more, knowing we have this, in addition to the love of bass in common.
