Yes, you finally did it. Feels good, dunnit? I am now using a knob like yours, feels much better. The original one is resting on a shelf. I got mine like what 1 and a half year ago. I was able to get my hands on one for like 15£ back then, e-bay was helping out. Anyway, the RHD looks clean. Stay safe! I digged my knuckles in the lower metal trim right after getting the blue bearing cap off.

My FN2 has a lot of play in the shifter sorta forward and back do you think this would help it at all? Or do I need to replace bushings

It will shorten the throw from front to back but won't fix any wear that's already there.

I was putting off fitting a short shifter for ages. Is it worth taking out the driver seat for more access?

To be honest the amount of effort of taking the seat out really doesn't gain you any extra access.

Did you find the gears were a stiffer/ more effort needed to get into 2, 3 & especially 6 ? Maybe not as you have a weighted shifer

I must admit, and I know I'm replying to a year old comment, but I fitted my short shifter yesterday, a weekend after having a new clutch fitted and new gear oil, and after much removing of plastic, I've found 2,4,y and R seem to just POP in easily, but 1,3 and 5 feel a tad stiffer, almost like its not quite in. Definitely think it's just how the short shifter makes things though.

Alright Lew, i've had my fn2 a while now and I think, like you. I have the 3rd gear issue, its not that often but can be annoying. Would you say this short shift provided any benefit towards the 3rd gear problem?

@@FNLEW This is true, what are they like to daily? I have a Honda prelude 3rd generation atm (project car) but due to it being so hard to find parts or waitting weeks for parts from the U.S it's becoming impossible to daily and I don't want to run it into the ground, so I was thinking of upgrading to the FN2 for the new daily and overall my main car while taking the prelude off the road completely so making it easier for me to work on.
@FNLEW4 жыл бұрын
@@blade8768 I'd say it's a good all rounder daily. The inside will be a huge difference for you. Rides a bit firm but plenty of space and it's very chuckable. Just mid 20s on mpg when in stop start traffic and the occasional foot down.
