Love this op session video. It brought back some great memories. I railfaned the Clinghfield in the 1970's, have ridden behind Clinchfield #1 steam and have ridden in the cab of one of their F units through the mountains. I sure do miss that railroad. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Again, thank you for the memories.

I'm thinking about the Clinchfield for my next layout in a large space. Reading your book and seeing your layout has pretty much "clinched" it! Thanks! Scott Perry, Utah.

I love layouts like this with realistic operations being carried out! It's one thing to have a nice set-up like so many do... I just think it's amazing when you combine the two! Awesome fellas:)

Sorry if you dont like the radios but that is what happens at an OP Session. I cannot control what is said over the radio when I am shooting video.

I for one love it! From all the KZbin videos I've watched of real-deal train operations, I've heard crews have a few interesting yaks on the radio. All the chatter about overheating brakes, air loss or helpers biting the dust out on the road makes it realistic. I also appreciate how much pressure and responsibility dispatchers have.

that is one amazing layout bob! the era that u model looks like its in the 70's a time that was more simple than now. looks a lot like places here in eastern ky, especially the coal tipples and mine critters. love your videos and layout!. would like to see you do a video on the L&N railroad

Barry Cornett - Buddy, you got THAT right!! Dirty, grimy, a little dangerous..... And the END of an almost 500,000 year run - when men could be MEN!!! I am so glad that I won't live long enough to see what this Snowflake generation, "Everyone's a Winner" group of socialist idiots will do to our once great Country....

Beautiful Layout! I really like that you've got signs of LIFE!! Housing and such. It's too often a sadly lacking feature on most Layouts.

Very nice look and great running space! Love the yard filled with hoppers. (Perhaps a bit too much blabbering on top of the radio chatter). Wish I has space like this! Take a look at what I’ve managed to do in very small layout space in O Scale 2-Rail: A Ride On the O Scale Ironbound RR

My lighting is sufficient for the layout. It is a little dim for video though but I have 33 double tube 4 foot flurescent fixtures in my basement. I cannot set up video lights with 17 guys in the basement operating trains. Also, due to the length of the video, shooting and uploading in 1080 would be too much for the computer to handle with too many Gigs. It took 5 hours to upload this video at 480 resolution.

How did these guys get to attend the session? Is it possible for a chap like me to attend? I would love to be there and watch. If there is any possibility of me attending I would jump at the opportunity!

I used to model steam on the Clinchfield from 2004 to 2008 then switched to diesels in the 70s era.

Bob, This is a great video....do you know what kits were used building the bridge at 1:47? This is one of the best deck girder structures I have seen.

Love the layout and the video but the radios are a bit overwhelming in this one. Hard to enjoy the sights and the sounds of the trains with them going off.

You'd think when doing a video, everyone but the dispatcher and crews would be quiet.
@railrunner017 жыл бұрын
The reality is that even on the prototype, the radio gets used for small talk by crews at train meets or in yards.
@roberthelm55336 жыл бұрын
Well during an op session and real life on the railroad people talk to other people. I have plenty of videos running trains where there is no talking if you want that. Thanks for watching.
