@ZombiZohm3 ай бұрын
The proper term for the process is apostasy
@fellowyou2ber3 ай бұрын
@@ZombiZohm Typically, within the context of Christianity, the term "deconstruction" is used to describe a process that involves a wholesale reevaluation of faith, but not one that necessarily ends with abandonment of faith. "Apostasy" is generally viewed through a narrower lens, which almost always involves abandonment of religious faith. Both Rhett and Link have said in the past that they still view themselves as being spiritual and want to retain some of the values and beliefs that they held while deeply involved with Christianity. Given this context, I think "deconstruction" is probably the more apt term. I'm all for clarity in language, and I really do detest when clearly defined terms and phrases are misused, but surely a quick google would have been enough to realize that this is a sensible usage of the term and doesn't warrant correcting someone on this internet. In fact, one might think you were correcting them just for the sake of it, but that would be insane.

Why? It's easier to be an atheist than to be religious, right? Fewer rules. Things don't feel as dire because every action doesn't carry eternal implications.
@DanielRodriguez-zj5il3 ай бұрын
@@urioriari34 While I do find it easier to live without the baggage of religion, deconstruction usually refers to deep-believing people trying to reevaluate what they have been taught all their life. That process, of going against your friends and family, risking your social life, sometimes even jeopardizing your wellbeing, is what is painful for many. Many feel lonely and abandoned, while others are disowned for leaving their faith. Just one of the many problems with religion.
