Actually thats what should be expected. The amount of effort other people put into it is just insanely low. As an interviewer, this is your carreer. Interest in other peoples career defines your relevance. Spending a few very concentrated hours on peoples social media and wikipedia page and taking some notes is required when you want to be 'up there' in the free market.
