“there are cases of people surviving off of paper” The average person can survive without food for about a month, water about 4 days. Paper has absolutely zero nutritional value in any way shape or form for humans to sustain themselves. These miners are a specific case of people being able to survive without food or water for a much longer period of time compared to the average person. Them eating paper did nothing to keep them alive. In desperate times of starvation they looked for anything that wouldn’t kill them if they ate it so that they could put something in there belly. They might have satisfied there hunger for a very short time but the paper did nothing for there body when it comes to actually feeding there body for proper energy. Basically they tricked there mind into getting rid of hunger pains for a short time even tho it didn’t actually help there body.
