Keep up the good work Goose. Do not downplay your own self control and give yourself a pat on the back. You're on the right path. This is similar to the method used at my grandmother's center for helping women who are recovering from drugs and domestic violence. We teach them that when they have an urge just think to themselves "I could partake in this but if I can make it through 5 minutes I'll be ok" and for the lot of them this works. What also helps is building a new habit. Its hard for your brain to break old habits but easy to form new ones. Whenever you feel an urge coming give your body some other thing like a bottle of water or an apple. This is a method that helps our women as well. You eventually curve your craving while also forming a new habit. Hope this helps. God Bless.
