That's true but When Ireland had their potato famine, some came over to Scotland and England and others went to New York and they married Scottish, Irish and Newyorkers and had kids so all the names got mixed up in all different places. Who cares where we are from though, we are all people right 😊. All Mc names were Mac names originally, but somewhere down the line someone decided to take the 'a' out of it. And it is correct that in Scottish Gaelic 'Mac' means 'son of' so Donaldson and Macdonald, well you could say they are basically the same second name. I am from Scotland and my name is Mclean 😊
