Please please please do a taste test to see the difference sparkling water that come in plastic or glass or aluminum cans. I have stopped drinking sparkling water that comes in plastic bottles because I am convinced the plastic completely changes the taste.

Well considering darker glass bottles keep beer from tasting skunky it makes sense. Its not the plastic changing the taste though. its the exposure to sunlight through the container.

I'm not surprised about the packets being better: the packets are opaque, don't have enough air for spoilage, and are sometimes made with mylar. What does surprise me is plastic being better than glass, since glass doesn't leech flavors into the food.

I think another reason packets could be better is because packets are smaller the flavor has no where to go but with plastic and glass being much bigger containers a lot of the flavor will seep to the bottom.

I’d bet it has more to do with oxidation than anything. Glass bottles have more air in because they can’t be pressurized with the product, and their caps probably also don’t seal as well

I’ve always thought that ketchup packets taste better than glass or plastic, probably has something to do with sun exposure and how it can stay fresher since it’s a smaller amount. Dipping Mickey D’s fries in ketchup packets while on a drive is a special type of experience.
