Great Discription Dr. these so called black box drugs work as intended for some of us...but not everyone can tolerate them.i.e. side effects can be somewhat overwhelming. Paradoxical side effects, rebound side effects from abrupt discontinuation with a significant increase in BP and sometimes Blood sugar issues....and what people assume is pustular cystic acne is really Pityrosporum folliculitis..commonly referred to as Malassezia Folliculitis...a yeast infection of the hair follicles. People use acne medication to treat this but it won't work...Ketoconazole gets rid of the issue quickly..Thanks doc for shedding light on these meds....properly being informed is the key to successful treatment..Paying attention to all side effects is the key as you you stressed clearly throughout the video!! Great stuff!!!!

My rheumatologist didn’t check my liver over before treatment because he mostly doesn’t care about the side effects. My ALT levels are currently around 57 and he literally just said oh I’m not concerned by that and you shouldn’t be because it just means you’re leaking proteins… yes, because of the meds he put me on

It works slightly differently to TNF blockers but the general idea of how it’s supposed to work is the same. In my experience Rinvoq compared to the TNF meds I’ve had previously (adelimumab and BENEPALI) has had horrific side effects including it to my liver and also depression caused by it. If you or a loved one are thinking of beginning treatment and opting for pills because of wanting to avoid needles or because that’s been the first suggested I’d advise asking about the TNF ones. I had much less issues with them and I’m waiting to go back on my first but weekly if it’s approved
