Rhiannon you have helped heal my soul. I was born into a deep South clan led family. Was raised to hate anyone not white. I am now 70 yrs old and so ashamed. As a mtn man I have always loved bluegrass. After seeing you on PBS I must say you are a bright star on the music scene.. So terribly ashamed. Thank you my dear.

Now you see the truth that has always been right in front of you. You dont have to carry someone else's burden. Lay it on down John.
@MicahBlackLight5 жыл бұрын
I’ll just add a small something to what Creole Viking put forth: you were RAISED on hate. Barring some terrible legitimate crimes you committed in service to that hate, you need not carry any shame. Parents, peers-it’s who we learn from, get much of our identity from. It takes time to find our own voice, our own truth. No matter how long it took you, you’re here now. The shame will not serve you. Your opened eyes, open heart and appreciation absolutely will.

Alot of collection of musical influences in Americana music. African, Irish, Scot, English Ballad, French Canadian (Cajun) and Creole. Even though the banjo is associated with blue-grass it was an instrument developed and played by early African-Americans. The old time flailing and claw-hammer banjo is the best. Rhiannon does a fantastic job bridging these styles and cultures.

I saw you on PBS for the Ken Burns Country Music concert. You blew me AWAY🤯🤯 I was raised with my Dad singing me songs while playing the Banjo and it’s part of my soul. I didn’t know your name until yesterday but I FOUND YOU!!🤗🥰 The Country Music documentary is playing again on PBS and it reminded me of this incredible singer & musician who wore a red dress, bare feet & played a primitive banjo better than Pete Seeger and Grandpa Jones!!🤩 I think you make root music sound the way it should!! I can hear the influences of multiple cultures and it’s very satisfying!! Love the clacking instrument + the sound your banjo makes together!! This song just amazes me. Thank you!!❤
