That Eddie Hazel album was reissued by Be With Records in the UK back in 2016 and Real Gone did it in 2021. Don't know if they're all analog though, but the one on Be With was officially licensed and great quality.

Glad to know Warners is hooked up with a place that isn't nursing old tired machines from decades ago. Because I just got a couple of albums from them I haven'y played yet . Rhino used to have a store adjacent to Westwood that I would check out when I went to the movies in one of the grand old houses there. The record store started out with one little bin of rare Do Wop records they repressed, " do to customer demand" . I thought that was a very nice service, but didn't buy any offerings. Now, seeing what the repressing has grown into, I also think the rights to those early titles were not costly, and a good way to slowly get started in manufacturing.

Another supposedly high quality reissue series - great! Increasingly flooding an already saturated market will bring us even more musical choices, and will increase competition on dealer shelf space and on tighter consumer pockets thus keeping prices on a leash, hopefully with even more discounting than today. Good to see stuff in print & some reissues help me discover artists I've missed. I'm enjoying the Doobie Bros. Quadio box set & just ordered Joni Mitchell's 4 album quad releases which Rhino had on sale. Both are artists which were/are completely absent from my collection.

i would feel "musical" when we went by Wallichs Music City - Sunset and Vine. And Rhino Records was fun (and busy) over in Westwood / UCLA -images from that little shop are online and very cool. The lady of the house worked in Century City - that mall had a Nickelodeon record store. Thanks, Mazzy !

as others have mentioned Game, Dames And Guitar Thangs was reissued by Be With Records UK release in 2016 and in the U.S. by Real Gone Music in 2021 so finding a reissue is far from rare.still cool to know a all analog pressing is being reissued.

Right you are. Many records used to stay in print for decades -- and they got cheaper over time, not more expensive. (Remember "The Nice Price" and "Records Are Still Your Best Entertainment Value" stickers for budget reissues?) How else would you get a record that had been released years before -- unless you had access to used record stores (which didn't even exist until the '70s -- we thought they were probably illegal black market vendors). Records that didn't sell became cut-outs, with a little saw divot or hole punch on the cover, so that they couldn't be resold at full retail price. The only way LP prices are going to come down is if we stop pretending that every reissue is some kind of "Rare Limited Edition!"

From my research it seems that if an lp or cd is not projected to sell 10000 copies it will not be released again. Ergo things go oop even though they still can be digitally downloaded.

I used to work next door to Graffeo on Columbus Ave in North Beach and would get a bag of beans a week. I became friends with the owner and his mom who lived above his storefront. She was from Italy and would sweep up the street each morning and share stories with me about the old country as we sipped coffee. They’re still there selling their great coffee.

This sounds promising. Mazzy, if you have any sway at all over at Rhino - see if you can push for them to do Young Mods Forgotten Story and This Is My Country by the Impressions. They've put out cd editions of them in the past, so I assume they still have the licencing for them. They're as good as any Curtis Mayfield album

I hadn't heard of either album and have never heard of Eddie Hazel. I might try them just to see what these albums are and to evaluate the pressings. If Amazon has them for the correct retail or below, I will definitely buy them from Amazon. Lately, Amazon has been marking up the more premium releases $5. to $10. above retail. I buy those from Music Direct, instead. Rhino used to have many of their releases pressed at RTI. Then they started having them pressed at Optimal Media and quality went downhill. Fidelity Record Pressing was put together by former RTI Rick Hashimoto and his son Edward. Former RTI, then QRP plater Gary Salstrom now is at Fidelity. At one point, it had been stated, Jim Davis, owner of Mofi and MD, also owned half of Fidelity. Hopefully, Rhino sticks with local record pressing.

Eddie Hazel album was reissued a few years ago on Real Gone Music, why is this being reissued again?

Because Rhino is the Warners reissue label (this is a Warners title) and this is an all analog cut. Real Gone is great but they are a third party who licensed the title and I think it’s a digital cut. I hear it does sound good. My guess is the new version will be a better pressing and will have a better cover. So basically, the title is coming home.

@ I bought the Real Gone Music pressing. Now I will have to rebuy it again but will wait for reviews. I really despise what these record companies do to the customers. This is not the first time. You know if you try to sell your old pressing you most likely will get a few dollars for it, I really hate that. Why couldn’t they just release this in all analog in the first place? Very frustrating and this is why I prefer to only buy original pressings.

Like with the HiFi series they aren't using original center labels which would have been nice and more "true to the original". Real Gone reissued Hazel in 2021. Craft Bluesville is $30, not $40.

I've roasted my own beans and single origin has absolutely nothing to do with degree of roast. It simply means not a blend, even between plantations in the same region. Again, NOTHING to do with degree of roast. I prefer medium and use nothing but single origin. OK, I lied sometimes I will blend a couple after roasting so that each is roasted to its best level.
