His bail was probably set at a million dollars so he might have sat in jail for a few weeks. If proven innocent the state of California will have then paid him a few thousand dollars for damages. If he was in jail for a year they would owe him 36k so he probably received 3k for being in jail for around a month. He could also sue other parties for damages such as defamation and false imprisonment.
