I beg to differ. The 70s had the best music, hands down. Every era of music had some great music. I guess it depends on which era you spent your teenage years. For me it was the 70s so that is the music I gravitate toward.

i still remember exactly where i was upon hearing of his passing... it was a chill October evening, already dark, as i drove to a friend's house. The radio on, Stay the Night came on and played. I got excited because I hadn't heard it for 3 or 4 years.... After it finished, the DJ said, "In memory of the passing of Benjamin Orr, he died today after a short battle with cancer. He was 53 years old." My mind went blank and couldn't comprehend what i just heard... He was younger then than i am now... the wrong people are taken from us too soon!

@@ConvairDart106 True. I would argue that 80's music gets a more emotional response though. For example, songs like Paradise City by Guns and Roses or Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollywood. Def Leppard is another one. I can't think of any 60's or 70's songs that get Baby Boomers excited. Maybe Sweet Home Alabama? Can't think of any others. Curious on your thoughts on that.

The songs that Benjamin Orr sang, like "THIS Time Around" and "STAY THE Night", if you just take your time and listen to the words and actually pit yourself in the words you will find just how deep you can get lost in these songs and and learn so much from them. He composed the tune, and he and his girlfriend wrote the lyrics, but he didn't seem to have been a very confident songwriter. No doubt he would have been surprised to find out that one day there would be KZbin, and that this song and it's video would be watched more than every almost every Cars song/ video, including the one that won the MTV awards back in the 80s.

80s music art is timeless, still ministers to your heart, mind, soul, spirit here in the 21st century. Music medicine. Even with all the heartaches, pain, setbacks I have endured and overcome, I wouldn't trade being born in the year I was, the time I grew up in listening to the Big 70s,80s, 90s for any other time. I grew up with this genre of music art that only gets better with time like fine wine, am still listening to it in my 60s. This music art still talks to your heart, soul, mind, spirit today. Why is it that 80s 90s had songs with substance... a story to tell.. the last 20 years... none of that exists... I feel sorry for anyone under 40 that didn't experience 80s 90s

The 70’s too, so many great bands started then, including The Cars, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, ELO, Bob Seger, Leon Russell, Bad Company, Grand Funk Railroad and many more. The 70’s ROCKED. 🤩🎵🎶💜♥️🥰

I remember being six years old, hearing this song and enjoying it immensely. Didn’t know Benjamin Orr’s name or his connection to the Cars, but I kind of “perceived” it, especially when the Cars came out with the “You Are the Girl” single a year later. I hope by now, Benjamin and Ric have had some happy afterlife recollections of that era.
