They really mastered the rhythm in their production. My friend who is a die-hard rock-N-roll fan dismisses ZZ Top as "disco rock," but this later sound is what set them apart. Also, like Aerosmith's huge 80's resurgance, to me it proved that Rock & Roll was not dead in the 80's.

As a one time San Leon, TX. resident, I am saddened to hear the news that Dusty has passed on. Used to drive past Waynos Bar often. Dusty had a big mansion compound on the water, right down the street. Every now and then he'd pop in the local watering hole. It was cool driving past his place with the big "DH" on the gate out by the road. Was sad when he left for Houston, even sadder to learn he has left us forever. I've moved to Florida and just purchased tickets to see ZZ Top here in November. I was worried that his hip was too bad for him to get back on tour before then, but I didn't want to believe the news that he died. I guess when it is your time, it's your time. Happy that it happened in Texas. Dusty was a true Texan. Rest in Peace Mr. Hill, and thank you for sharing your music with all of us. Hopefully you and Elvis are comparing your versions of this song. Again, Thank you very much.

Each time I see scenes of Las Vegas, I think back a few years of that Englishman who was near ruin right after the 2008 crash. He lost his job, his wife and kids and even his dog. , With nothing left to lose, he 2nd mortgaged his house and flew to las Vegas. He found a Roulette wheel he liked and placed it all one Red. It won!! he was a sudden hero and everyone clamored about his guts, and nerves of steel. Only one person asked him "what would have happened had you lost"? he smiled and said "I only bought a one way ticket from Great Britain".

I just recently heard this absolutely scorching version of Viva Las Vegas by ZZ Top. How did I miss it? Elvis would be proud. I also loved the original song by Elvis. The disco rhythm in parts of the song really work well with the rockin' bass and guitar. I also like the Elvis character in the video.
