I'm almost 43 and rocked this on a cassette. I still have that tape in storage! Hahahahaha. Her outfit is still killer too. Boots and a maxi skirt and a trench coat. I used to pretend I was Jane Child on the keyboard. Hahahaha

@@jasonalperin9414 😂 that's from out of no where but yeah Don't think ai could truly make something that has half the feel that this has and the soul musicians put into their work maybe in the future but definitely not at the current moment Given enough time and you know monkeys with type writers Their some solid pictures I have a few I have saved because of how hard they hit when seeing them I also love the pictures of ai wizards breaking into fast food restaurants that stuff is beyond funny I mainly see ai as a tool to visualize projects early

Jane Child, released in 1989, was fully written, produced, and performed on the synthesizer (except for the guitar parts) by Child herself, a rarity for a debut artist signed to a major label. Due to her musical style and her emphasis on control over her music, she was at the time labeled by the press as "the female Prince". Best known for the hit single "Don't Wanna Fall in Love" which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1990. The song was also a big hit on the R&B chart, peaking at No. 6, a rarity for a white artist.

She really was. At the time, Jane Child was considered hugely avant-garde. Her nose ring is-it-real-or-clip-on was a big debate in high school! But being considered avant-garde myself then (big time!) I admired her. I wonder why she did not become a bigger star. Perhaps she was ahead of her time.

I view this 89 song (in my own personal opinion) as the last "hurrah" of the iconic 80s synth sound. Many people dismiss this song as just a wacky pop one hit wonder song but The synth work on this song and other songs like Pebbles, "Mercedes Boy", are done so well that I never get tired of listening to any of them. In fact, Jane Child's 1st album where this song is a part of has amazing synth playing and sounds that were iconic 80s sounds. She was a very talented and underated artist. 👍

@@7.0SLO Interestimg. Cool that you brought up the song, Easy Lover. That was one hell of a song from the 80's. Can't go wrong with Phil Collins fron Genius, and Phil Bailey from Earth, Wind and Fire. Takes me back to the days of Miami Vice. 🤓👍

First time ever seeing this video... Mind blowing. She was a visionary, and all i ever knew was that this was a super catchy song from long ago. Heard it playing at a store, and when i looked it up, this was not what i was expecting to see. Whipping her braids better than late 90s Offspring, she could be a high level boss in a video game or a bouncer at a goth club. And if she was, I'd be hanging around.

Funny how a lot of these artists were actually far better than they realised they were at Urban music, I'm not counting sales only what my ears are telling me. This is one of the best tracks from this era, I would say its more an 80s sound than 90s but has a far superior production to most of the 90's Urban pop music that followed.
