Erika is channelling her mother when she treats Teddi - and other women - like this. Erika's internalized misogyny (she stated in her first season that she "doesn't get along well with women" or something to that effect), her bullyish ways towards women who show "weakness" (ergo, who are "sensitive" or "emotional"), all stems from her childhood and how (badly) her mother treated her. Erika was punished when she showed "weakness" (i.e. vulnerability), and was taught that strength is behaving similarly to her mother. Classic "bully makes victim; victim becomes bully". The irony is, Erika is one of the most vulnerable people on this show. Her arrogance and narcissism are all overcompensatory defense mechanisms. That's why she overreacts, projects, and misdirects anger/hurt (e.g. her reaction towards Eileen's innocuous comment vs Dorit's passive-aggressive humiliation; her reaction towards Teddi's comment). Anyway, I could write a long psychological analysis of each of these women, but I won't. I didn't even intend to leave a comment (never/rarely do). I just wanted to point out the obvious, because I absolutely abhor bullying; and I truly wish someone was there to pull a mirror in front of Erika's face. Using $40,000 a month on hair, makeup and clothes, to create what's essentially a protective alter ego to go with your new life(style); is like putting pretty paint on a broken TV, thinking it will somehow fix what's broken inside. Research has shown that using money on material things can only make you that much happier. There is literally a limit to how much happiness money can buy, and it's also dependent on what you invest it in. And in Erika's case, she should take that money, and invest in a good therapist. That's my two cents.

I used to like Erika but her ego is getting way too big this season. For one, I think she was still mad at teddi about what happened at her house, which is stupid cuz she made a way bigger deal about that than it needed to be. I also think Erika was slightly jealous of Teddi because she got along with almost everyone so well right away. Erika had a little bit of a harder time when she first came on the show and she also had issues with Dorit during her first season. Often people see reflections of their younger-selves in others and they sometimes act out. I think that's what happened with Erika. She seems her younger self in Teddi and she acts out. What Erika said to Teddi is actually a conversation she wished she had told her younger-self. Erika gets away with her behavior because they allow it. Ive come across a million Erika's. They're a dime a dozen. It takes one person to stand up and it stops.
