This song, “JUST YOU AND I” came out in November or December of 1982 when I was a young man so naive and full of hopes and dreams with my future before me…..long before heartbreak, failures and setbacks, shattered and broken dreams and crushing reality came down on me afterwards. Life knocked me down quite a few times. But I kept getting back up and I am still here. Even though I’m a jaded, cynical old man whose life didn’t turn out exactly the way that I wanted it to…..I am still truly grateful for the brief glimpses of love, happiness and joy that the lyrics of “JUST YOU AND I” talks about and celebrates. For a long time I didn’t want to hear this song because I felt like such a stupid fool for being dumb enough to buy into the lyrics of “JUST YOU AND I”. But I have always been, even at my most jaded and cynical moments…..a sweet, sappy, sentimental, mooshy, mushy, hopelessly romantic dreamer. I am still in love with love. And even though I never found the “girl of my dreams” or my “soul mate”, my heart is truly glad and happy when others get to experience the wonderfully incredible and beautiful gifts of love. I love it when love works and succeeds and boy meets girl and they fall in love and they end up getting to do the happily ever after and getting to share their lives together and make memories with each other and growing old with each other. Even now I love this song more than I ever did before. The music and lyrics of “JUST YOU AND I” by Eddie Rabbit and Crystal Gale are so beautiful and so powerful that I cry. But at the same time my heart sings and my soul soars with happiness and joy and that even after forty plus years, a jaded and cynical old man like me can still feel such strong emotions and still be grateful for having had even just a brief glimpse and taste of what real love was / is. Thank you so much, Eddie Rabbit and Crystal Gayle for singing “JUST YOU AND I”. And rest in peace , Eddie Rabbit (November 27, 1941-May 7, 1998).

But he was abusive and one night I get this message from a guy that I didn't know I went out on a leap of faith and after kicking my 10 yr relationship to the curb , I'm very happy, the most happiest I've ever been, I'm so grateful the he walked in to my life I know I know it's only been 4 Mos but it feels as if we knew each other our whole lives he just turned 40 and I'm 48 but we are very happy together....

This song baited me into buying Eddie Rabbitt’s radio romance LP. One of the best purchases I’ve ever made. You play this record late in the evening and it’s like magic. Every song on that album is a masterpiece, but “You and I” will always have a special place in my heart. I as a 25 year old would love to have this as a wedding dance song, as so many others have done going by these comments. I just feel like very few people my age would understand.

I don't think I could ever express my true feelings for someone. I'm not one to say "This is how I feel and have felt." Come to think of it? I've never told anyone how I truly feel first. There will be several people that will never truly know how I feel and I would rather go on that way. Opening up myself is so fucking hard even more so when your trying to explain yourself to someone. Potential love interest or family member's that want to know why? No one knows that in me I'm screamimg everything I want to say it just doesn't leave my mouth. It's like I have this why bother mindset always in my mind...

The voices, the harmonies, the atmosphere -- I've always loved this song. My wife and I almost chose this as our wedding song back in '83. It was a very close second. When I look back, the lyrics are so fitting for us in big and small ways. The simple sentiments are always the most powerful. My wife taught me that. She passed away a few years ago, but she will always be the best thing that ever happened to me.

Terrific song. I actually first heard this song on an audio cassette I found in the side of a street. It was an old compilation tape from K-Tel called "Heartbeat of the 80s". This is one of 10 songs on the tape that was all hits and no misses.

So many breathtakingly beautiful memories attached to this song and era of time. What I wouldn't give to relive those days. Not to recapture my youth but so I could simply hold the love of my life just one last time. Thirty years together just wasn't long enough. Hearing music like this from those days and times brings tears to eyes yet joy to my heart cause those precious memories are all I have left. Rest in paradise my beloved. We'll be together one day again then it will be for eternity 😥 🙏
